2024年1月、スマッシング・パンプキンズ（The Smashing Pumpkins）は新しいギタリストを公募し、1万件以上の応募の中からロサンゼルスのギタリスト、キキ・ウォン（Kiki Wong）を選びました（詳しくはこちら）。ウォンは米Guitar Worldの取材に応じ、決定後初の公式インタビューで、オーディションの過程を振り返っています。


「最初、本当の投稿だとは思えなかった。クリックしてみたら、それがスマッシング・パンプキンズの公式アカウントから投稿されていたので驚きました。私は“こんな象徴的なバンドの一員になれるチャンスをみんなに与えるなんて、なんて素晴らしいことをやっているんだろう”と思いました。


でも、私には小さな子供がいるから、ツアーの日々はもう終わりだと思っていました。私の夢はいつもたくさんの観客の前で演奏することだったけれど、私は将来のツアーへの希望を諦めていました。

In January 2024, The Smashing Pumpkins held an open call for a new guitarist and selected Los Angeles guitarist Kiki Wong from over 10,000 applicants (click here for details). Wong was interviewed by Guitar World in the US and looked back on the audition process in his first official interview since his decision.


"At first I didn't think it was a real post. I clicked on it and was surprised to see it was posted from the official Smashing Pumpkins account. I was like, 'This is a great opportunity to be a part of such an iconic band. I thought, ``What a great thing they are doing to give this to everyone.''


But I have a young child, so I thought my touring days were over. My dream was always to perform in front of large audiences, but I had given up hope of ever touring.

Monuments to an Elegy』は、アメリカのオルタナティブ ロックバンド、スマッシング パンプキンズによる 9 枚目のスタジオ アルバムで[5]、2014 年 12 月 9 日にマーサズ ミュージックからリリースされました。バンドのリーダーであるビリー・コーガンは、バンドの前作『オセアニア』と同様に、このアルバムは34トラックからなる音楽プロジェクト『 Teargarden by Kaleidyscope』の一部であると述べた。 [要出典] 2018年にプロジェクトがキャンセルされたため、この作品はシリーズの最後の部分となった。コーガンとギタリストのジェフ・シュローダーはデュオとしてアルバムを録音し、モトリー・クルーのトミー・リーがドラム・パートを加えた。、2018年に オリジナルギタリストのジェームス・イハとドラマーのチェンバリンが復帰する前の最後のアルバムとなった
