最終話では、小池演じるヨウコ・ニシ・フリーマンらが蔓延が進む未知のウイルスと対峙。“聖まごころ病院”の医師たちは笑いあり涙ありの結末を迎えた。そして、本編最後のエンドロールには主題歌「恋のブギウギナイト」を担当したサザンオールスターズが特別出演を果たした。

　同作は宮藤官九郎による完全オリジナル脚本で、新宿・歌舞伎町の病院「聖まごころ病院」を舞台に“命”をテーマにした“救急医療エンターテインメント”ドラマ。ホストやキャバ嬢、ホームレス、トー横キッズ、外国人難民などさまざまなバックボーンを持つ“ワケあり”な登場人物たちが交錯する社会の構図を、“官九郎節”ともいえる、ときにユーモアを織り交ぜながら、さまざまな悩みや問題を抱えながらも人生を強く生きる人たちを描き、話題となっていた。
