原色」は5月18日にリリースされるストレイテナーのニューアルバム「COLD DISC」の1曲目を飾るナンバー。「U-31」は綱本将也原作のマンガを実写化した映画で、かつて日本代表として活躍したサッカー選手の挫折と再生が描かれる。

映画の監督を務める谷健二は「以前から、とてもかっこよく完成されたバンドだと感じていました。さらに、現状に満足しないで、まだまだ何かやってくれそう、という期待感が物語の主人公とリンクし、今回の映画の主題歌をぜひやってもらいたいと思いました」と主題歌を依頼した理由を説明。ホリエアツシ（Vo, G, Key）は「『原色』という曲は、現実と理想の間で揺れ動く葛藤、周りの目や声に惑わされず、自身の意志を強く持つというテーマで書きました」と制作時に意識したことを明かし、「心に正直にあろうという思いは、僕が歌詞で表現し続ける恒久のメッセージでもあり、この映画を観て、真っ直ぐにそんな詞を書こうと思いました

"Genshoku" is the first song on Straightener's new album "COLD DISC" which will be released on May 18th. ``U-31'' is a live-action movie based on the original manga by Shoya Tsunamoto, and depicts the setbacks and rebirth of a soccer player who once played for the Japanese national team.


Kenji Tani, the film's director, said, ``I've always felt that this was a very cool and accomplished band.Furthermore, I felt that they were not satisfied with the current situation and that they would continue to do something, which was linked to the main character of the story.'' I really wanted him to sing the theme song for this movie," he said, explaining why he asked him to sing the theme song. Atsushi Horie (Vo, G, Key) said, ``I wrote the song 'Genshoku' based on the theme of the conflict between reality and ideals, and having a strong will of one's own without being distracted by the eyes and voices of those around you.'' He revealed that he was conscious of this at the time, saying, ``The desire to be honest in my heart is a permanent message that I continue to express in my lyrics, and after watching this movie, I decided to write those lyrics straight away.''
