Movie review: Nyad

When I was having a hard time studying English and wanted to give it up, I watched TED Talks by Diana Nyad to help motivate myself to keep studying. Her talks always encouraged me.
So when I found a movie featuring Nyad on Netflix, I immediately clicked it to watch.

Diana Nyad accomplished the feat of swimming 180km across the Straits of Florida at the age of 64. Her unwavering determination to the swim, the dangers involved in the tremendous size of the ocean were totally beyond my imagination.

In the first place, just thinking about swimming, even in a pool for 53 hours straight, seems quite impossible to me.

The power to believe in herself that she can swim all the way from Cuba to Florida sounds like madness. What drove her to go that far?

Here is my thought on the film.
Of course, Nyad is amazing and super cool. She accomplished something very great. So, people’s focus tends to be on her. But the team of Nyad is equally amazing. Now, I can imagine how hard it is to understand and support someone who is trying to accomplish something unbelievable.

So, this is not the story just about Nyad; it is the story about her and her team’s brilliant accomplishment.

Moreover, Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are both amazing and very inspiring. Their acting is so splendid that in addition to the greatness of Nyad, I felt my passion and inspiration rising up again from the bottom of my heart.
