RED JAPS ❛MASS ON BORDER❜—
RED JAPS 'MASS ON BORDER' —The Singapore Free Press, 6 April 1951
NEW YORK. Fri.
THE New York Daily News,
in a special Washington dispatch yesterday, said Red Japanese troops had amalgamated with the Communist Chinese Manchurian army
and are massing on the
Korean border in Manchuria.
The House of Representative Speaker, Mr. Sam Rayburn., interrupted a House
debate on Wednesday and
said that troops other than
Chinese were massing in
Manchuria.
The News said it learned
from intelligence sources that Rayburn meant Japanese
captured by Russians in 1945 and indoctrinated by them.
For several years Japanese newspapers have reported that a Japanese military force of ex-P.O.W's has been operating with the the Chinese Reds.
About 10,000 of the Japanese troops former members of the Kwantung army, are grouped in a separate division the Daily News said.
It added the Kwantung army at the height of World war II consisted of 700,000 of Japan's best troops. About 50,000 to 100,000 were killed in battle. Russia captured the remainder and, after the war, repatriated about 400,000 to Japan.
Nationalist China charged last night that the Soviet Union has been pouring combat troops and planes into Manchuria since the outbreak of the Korean war. — A.P., U.P.
