＜森未来に来るまで＞

私の学校で好きな科目の一つと言ったら、地理でした。世界のどこにどの資源があって、どのように人間がそれを利用しているのかということに魅力を感じていました。そこで2013年にドレスデン工科大学で森林科学を専攻し、その後の6年間は、持続的な木材のような森林資源の扱い方について学びました。

他の多くの人と同じように生徒の時にポケモンや他のアニメが本当に好きでした。後、アニメは日本に生まれたと知って、だんだん日本に興味持ちました。それで、学生の頃、日本語のクラスを受けて決めました。うちの大学の日本語科目をすべて履修した後、自分で日本に行くことを決意し、2017年から2018年まで慶應義塾大学に交換留学していました。

交流が終わったら、私はぜひ日本へ戻りたいと言うふうにはっきりと感じました。日常生活の以外に、日本語で自分の専門についても話せるようになりたかったからです。

それで、ドイツに戻ってからは、できるだけ早く勉強を終え、ドイツ学術交流サービスの奨学金に応募して、日本語を集中的に学び、日本企業でインターンシップをすることにしました。卒業も奨学金もうまくいったので、去年の9月に日本に帰ってきました。

＜森未来でインターン活動をするきっかけ＞

現代っ子なので、インターン先を探している時、主にGoogle先生を頼っていました。数多く調べた会社の中で森未来はかなり印象に残りました。その他多くの林業界の会社と違って、ホームページの写真は鋭いし使いやすいと感じました。そして若いチームはたくさん新しいアイデア持っていました。興味を持って、森未来にインターンシップをお願いすることにしました。

＜森未来に来てみて＞

数週間後の面接では、日本語的にちょっと大変でした。とはいえ、木材サンプルの香りが漂う小さなオフィスで、すぐに居心地の良さを感じました。結果的にコロナ事態にもかかわらず、7月から初の外国人インターンとして森未来に入りました。

出勤初日は最高でした。チームも事務所の雰囲気も最高です。みんな時間をかけてゆっくりと分かりやすく説明してくれるので、たまに2回、3回と聞いても、理解してくれます。もちろん始めたばかりですが、この雰囲気の中で日本語をたくさん勉強して、日本の林業についてもたくさん勉強して、たくさんの面白い人に出会えると思います。これからの数ヶ月に楽しみにしています！

＜about me＞

One of my favorite subjects at school was geography. I have always been fascinated by where in the world which resources are and how humans use them. So, I enrolled in forest science at the Technical University of Dresden in 2013, and for the next six years, I studied about the sustainable use of wood and other forest resources.

Like many others my age, I loved anime such as Pokemon when I was in school. Later, I got to know that these are from Japan and got interested in the country in general. So, at college, I also took the chance to take Japanese classes. After finishing all the Japanese classes available, I decided to take my studies a step further. And so, I went for an exchange year at Keio University in Tokyo from 2017 to 2018.

When the exchange ended, I felt very clearly that I wanted to return to Japan. I wanted to further improve my Japanese, to be able to not only talk about the hot weather in the Japanese summer but about my field of study.

So back in Germany, I finished my studies, got a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service, and came back to Japan in September last year to take intense Japanese classes and do an internship afterward.

＜how I found Shinmirai＞

As a child of my time, When I was looking for an internship, I mainly relied on Google. Among the many companies, I found interesting, Shinmirai was quite an exception. Its webpage had sharp pictures and was easy to use -- by no means a standard in the forest industry. The team was young and had lots of interesting new ideas. Hooked, I just wrote them a mail and asked for an internship.

The interview a few weeks later was a bit of a challenge in terms of Japanese. Nevertheless, I immediately felt comfortable in the small office with the lingering scent of all the wood samples in the air. At the end of the day, despite my lacking Japanese and the ongoing Corona crisis, I joined Shinmirai as the first foreign intern on the first of July.

My first day on the job was great, the team and the atmosphere in the office great. Everyone took the time to explain things to me slowly and clearly, even when I had to ask two or three times. Of course, it has just begun, but I am sure to learn a lot of Japanese, about the Japanese forest industry and meet a lot of interesting people in the months ahead.
