Voters in Braddock, Pa., Turn Out for Former Mayor John Fetterman

In heavily Democratic Braddock, Pa., where steam from a U.S. Steel plant still rises above the Monongahela River, many voters said they were happy to cast a vote for their former mayor, John Fetterman, in the hopes that he can ascend to the U.S. Senate.

In the 2020 election, the use of mail-in absentee ballots surged to 60% of votes cast from 6%, driven mostly by the pandemic, Ms. Wolfe said. She said that localities around the state had had two years to prepare for this election and improved the efficiency of their counting methods.
