［英詩］Bob Dylan, 'Boots of Spanish Leather'

英詩のマガジンの本配信、今月2本目です。歌われる詩の1回めです。今回はボブ・ディランのアルバム 'The Times They Are A-Changin'' (1964)に収められた曲 'Boots of Spanish Leather' です。1963年8月に録音されました。伴奏ギターのすばらしいフィンガー・ピッキングに、本当にディラン自身が弾いているのかとの疑問が提出されたほどの録音です。詩としては韻律的に面白い韻を含んでいることで有名であり、彼の書いた中で最も美しいラヴソングの一つと言われています (Margotin and Guesdon)。

まとめ

ボブ・ディランの 'Boots of Spanish Leather' はバラッドの詩形と伝統とをふまえ、恋人同士が交わす手紙を通して二人の愛の形をうたう。当時イタリアにいたディランの恋人は本歌ではスペインへ向かうと歌われている。
