Is English education unnecessary?

More than 20 years ago, A celebrity said, "Since machine translation advances, there will be no need for English education at school in the 21st century." 

Certainly, machine translation has progressed dramatically compared to that time.
And I'm happy. Because I'm not good at languages.

Recently, I often use Google Translate on Twitter. Because the war in Ukraine has begun and there are more opportunities to read foreign language posts.

The quality of the translation is not good, but I can understand it.It is useful because it supports multiple languages.

Apple's genuine translation app is also useful. It helps me read foreign language sentences on iPad.

I'm trying the translation from Japanese to English here and now, what do you think?

My subject of Japanese is vague, so I think it will be difficult to translate.That's what I thought.

My subject of Japanese is ambiguous. So it's probably difficult to 、translate. After all, that's right.

I think English education is necessary.

Even if machine translation advances, English education is essential. I think so. 

It is to understand different cultures and languages, and to better recognize your own cultures and languages. To that end, it is necessary to further enhance English education.

純正翻訳アプリの使用上の問題点

翻訳の評価と、iPadでの作業上の問題の2点に関して、感想を書かせていただきます。

まず翻訳の評価です。翻訳制度の問題と私の日本語の問題が重なっての結果が上記に現れました。

まともな英文と思われる部分もありますが、何だこれは、と困惑してしまう部分もあります。

はっきり言えることはそのまま他人様のお見せすることはできないです。けれども、内容を何となく受け止めていただけるのではないかと思います。

元の日本語を工夫すれば、もう少しまともな英文になるかも知れません。短いセンテンスを重ねていく、たどたどしい日本文のほうが良いのかも、です。

作業上の問題を一つご紹介します。

チップ性能が低く、メモリーが小さな機種では、すぐに翻訳作業がストップします。重い作業なんでしょうね。

ということで、今回はここまでです。

私の日本語を見なおして、純正翻訳アプリの使用感を高めるのと、外国語から日本語への翻訳を評価するのが、今後の課題となります。
