On the evening they assume ownership, the female lead of the opera falls mysteriously ill.

Several perfoemers are also terribly frightened when they see the Phantom's shadow moving through the hallways.

怪人の影が廊下を通って動くのを見た何人かの役者達もひどくおびえた

Before the curtain rises, the chief stagehand is found murdered,hanging by his neck from a stage curtain rope.

Raoul waits for Christine outside of her dressing room at the theater.

ラウルは劇場の楽屋口でクリスティーヌを待っていた。

Although Raoul knows she is alone, he hears a mysterious male voice telling the singer he has made her a great star.

ラウルは彼女が一人のはずなのに、彼女を一流のスターにしたのは自分だと歌手に伝える謎の男性の声をきいた。

Later, when they meet, Christine tells Raoul that she is also deeply in love with him, but then begs him to leave her and never return again.

そのあと、二人が会った時、クリスティーヌはラウルに彼女もまた深く彼を愛していると伝えた。しかしその後ラウルに彼女の元から去り、二度と戻ってこないように懇願した。

Heartbroken, he secretly follows her to her dressing room.
To his astonishment, he sees her disappear through her mirror.

打ちのめされた彼はこっそり彼女の楽屋へ忍び込んだ。
驚いたことに、彼は彼女が鏡をすり抜けて消えてしまったのを見た。

Beyond this mirror,Christene enters the Phantom’s hidden world.
Here, she discovers he is neither phantom nor angel.

He is Erik, a deeply troubled man hiding his horribly scarred face behind a mask.

At first she refuses, but then she hears him sing and takes pity on him.

Lifting his mask, she tenderly kisses his terrible face, promising to be his forever.

With this simple, gentle act, Erik is filled with happiness he has never known.

In despair, he begs Christine’s forgiveness, offering his blessing to her marriage to Raoul.

Only three weeks after Christine’s departure, Erik dies.
She returns to bury him with his ring.

クリスティーヌが去ってたったの3週間後、エリックは死んだ。
彼女は彼を埋葬するために指輪と共に戻ってきた。

She understands the pain behind a mask, and realizes the importance and gratitude of a single kiss .

彼女はマスクの下に隠された辛さを理解し、たったひとつのキスの感謝が大事だと気がついた。
