Kyocera's "matoil" and Apartment Hotel "MIMARU" To Start A Food Allergy and Gluten-Free meal Service
Solving Food Problems for People Traveling with Allergies
Kyocera Corporation (hereinafter: Kyocera) announced that "matoil", its food allergy response service, and Apartment Hotel MIMARU (hereinafter: MIMARU), operated by Cosmos Hotel Management Co., Ltd., will start a service providing food allergy and gluten-free meals to travelers from November 18, 2024.
Background
If you or your family members have a food allergy, you must always be constantly aware of what you eat, and cannot easily use restaurants or convenience stores. Many families, especially tourists visiting Japan, choose to cook their meals in accommodation with a kitchen, bringing with them the seasonings they are familiar with from their own country.
matoil has delivered meals to such families in the past. However, customers are required to wait in accommodation at the time of food delivery, as they have to pick up the meals themselves. In addition to the time constraints, customers who change accommodations for long stays also need to check the size of refrigerators and kitchens before coming to Japan, to make sure each spot caters to their food needs. All of these factors can make it challenging for people with allergies to prepare meals during their travels.
Through this new service that both companies are currently collaborating on, MIMARU staff will receive meals delivered from matoil on behalf of the guest and store them in a refrigerated freezer in the guest's room. Therefore, there is no need for guests to check with the accommodation facilities in advance or to receive them by themselves. This service allows travelers with allergies from all over the world to enjoy their stay in Japan without being restricted by food.
MIMARU and matoil aim to help build a society where anyone can enjoy
meals catered to their needs anytime.
