1967年（昭和42年）3月18日に岡山県岡山市で世界初となる点字ブロックが敷設されたことは、視覚障害者にとって非常に重要な歴史的出来事です。この画期的な発明は、視覚障害者がより安全に移動できるように設計されました。点字ブロックは、主に歩行者道や公共の場所に設置されており、異なるテクスチャーとパターンを使用して視覚障害者に方向や警告を伝えます。主な種類には、誘導用の点字ブロック、警告用の点字ブロック、ホーム線端用の点字ブロックがあり、それぞれ特定の目的で使用されます。

高校生パーラメンタリーディベートの日

braille block day

The installation of the world's first Braille blocks in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture on March 18, 1967 was an extremely important historical event for visually impaired people. This breakthrough invention was designed to help visually impaired people move more safely. Braille blocks are mainly installed on pedestrian paths and public places and use different textures and patterns to convey directions and warnings to visually impaired people. The main types are guidance braille blocks, warning braille blocks, and platform line edge braille blocks, each of which is used for a specific purpose. If an obstacle is placed on top of the Braille blocks, visually impaired people will not be able to obtain accurate information, which poses problems such as temporarily parking a car on top of the Braille blocks. Therefore, efforts are needed to educate people about the importance of Braille blocks and their proper use. Seiichi Miyake, who invented the Braille block, was the first president of the Safe Traffic Testing and Research Center, and was also active as a social entrepreneur and inventor. Proud to be from Okayama Prefecture, his invention was first installed near the Okayama School for the Blind, at the crosswalk of what is now National Route 250 and the Haraojima intersection. In honor of his achievements, a monument has been erected with the title "Birthplace of the Braille Block". The introduction of Braille blocks was a major step toward enabling visually impaired people to live independently in society, and contributed to subsequent improvements in accessibility.

High school student parliamentary debate day
