What Is The Difference Between Galvalume And Galvanizing?

The primary difference between Galvalume and galvanizing is that Galvalume is made up of aluminum, silicon, and zinc, and galvanizing is 100% zinc. The three elements that make up a Galvalume coating consist of zinc (just under 50%), aluminum (just over 50%), and a trace amount of silicon.

Galvalume has an advantage over galvanized materials since it has further enhanced protection capabilities. • Galvalume steel sheet has a much higher thermal reflectivity when compared to galvanized steel sheet (almost twice as high). This is why it is commonly used as an effective insulation material.

• The corrosion resistance of galvanized and aluminized steel coils is mainly contributed to the highly protective functions of the zinc and aluminum coating. Once the zinc is compromised, the aluminum will form an alumina dense layer, which prevents any further corrosion.
