Long Way to Overcome

No.01

I was born and raised in a comfortable family. My mother's family members are extremely warm-hearted and giving people. The grandparents were our entire family's role models of how to treat and engage others. Regardless of the amount of time I spent with them, their philosophy, their manner, and their belief made me who I am today.
My grandmother used to tell me that we should treat others as we want to be treated. In addition, she guided me: the world was getting smaller and I had to manage at least three languages and to keep my mind wide open to the world.
My mother's family believes in Shinto. Shinto is the simple and old religion.  When we were staying at my grandparents' house, I saw my grandfather praying towards the rising sun every morning. Honestly, I don't recall what he did when it was rainy.
