ろくに論文も書かず学会発表もせずに生きてきたのでMLAスタイルについての覚え書き。フォーマットの基本。

MLA: Basic Things to Know
Here are some basics that will always be the case for all formatting across the board: 12 point legible font. In our class, I'd like you guys to always use Times New Roman, Double-space, 1" margins,
Last name coupled with page number should be in the upper right-hand corner of the header on all pages,
In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructor's name, the course, and the date. Again, be sure to use double-spaced text,
Double-space again and center the title. Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks. Write the title in Title Case (standard capitalization), not in all capital letters.

フォントはTimes New Romanで行間はダブルスペース、用紙の余白は１インチ。名字とページ数を右上に入れる。すぐに文章を書き始めるのではなく、左詰めで名前、教員名、クラス名、そして日付を１行ずつ記載する。そしてタイトルを中央揃えで示す。タイトルはアンダーラインを引いたり、イタリック体にしたり、クオーテーションマークをつけない。全部を大文字にもしない。

ここで注意したいのが、日本のダブルスペースと海外のダブルスペースでは設定が異なっている点。基本的にA4やB5は日本独自の大きさなので、レターサイズにしなければならない。フォントはTNRの12ポイントなので行間の固定値を24ptに設定すると1枚に25行分かける正しいダブルスペースになる。

MLAスタイルでの参考文献の付け方もなんだか興味深いので後日。
