Capt.GPT何も見えず...

Have you ever encountered a situation where you were unable to move your aircraft due to thick fog, making it impossible to see the outside?"でした。

Capt.GPTは"I have not encountered what is called a whiteout, but it is often that I can't see anything further than a few dozen meters in a dense fog. I have experienced it at Kushiro Airport and Kumamoto Airport, which are prone to fog in Japan."

Could you briefly explain about fog?"と尋ねてきたので、Capt.GPTは"Fog is said to have visibility of less than 5/8 mile (1 kilometer). Anything above that is distinguished from mist and haze (BR). (6/8 mile to 5 miles). There are various types of fog, so the main types of fog are Radiation Fog, Ice Fog, Advection Fog, Upslope Fog, and Steam Fog. At Kumamoto Airport, radiation fog is the cause of dense fog, and at Kushiro Airport, fog caused by the movement from the Pacific Ocean is known."

What kind of accidents are expected when moving the aircraft in dense fog?"
Capt.GPTは"When flying in the dense fog, there is a risk of collision with any object around the aircraft, such as other aircraft, towing cars, boarding bridges, lighting towers and cargo containers. The next concern is that the taxi route to the runway may be mistaken and the aircraft may become lost during the flight. If an aircraft mistakenly enters an active runway, there is a risk of runway incursion with an aircraft taking off or landing."
