Nintendo Switch『Stardew Valley』で英語学習（メモ）

勉強になったところや好きな表現だなと思ったところをピックアップしたメモです。
3日目までプレイした内容を振り返ってみました。順番はごちゃごちゃです。

• Mayer→市長
  

• Sure, it’s a bit overgrown, but there’s some good soil underneath that mess!
  →“underneath”ってマライア・キャリーのAll I Want For Christmas Is Youの歌詞にも出てきますよね。
  

• My husband runs the general store here.
  →「経営する」というような意味で“run”という単語が使えるんですね。なるほど。

• the pale one
  →室内にこもりがちで顔が青白い人って意味でしょうか？

• With a little dedication you'll have it cleaned up in no time.
  →haveの使い方が勉強になります。

• 動詞の"place"

• “You picked a good time to movehere... The spring is lovely.”
  →開発者の方はアメリカ人だそうですが、アメリカでもこういう言い方をするんですね。“lovely”を天気とか季節に対して使うのはイギリス人のイメージがありました。
  

• It’s going to be a beautiful sunny day.
  →こちらも素敵な表現。
  

• Can I get you anything?
  

• I can read it on your face.
  

• You know, with a small town like this, a new face can really alter the community dynamic. It’s exciting!
  

• Oh. You just moved in, right? Cool. Out of all the places you could live, you chose Pelican town?
  

• You can call me 'Granny' if you like.
  

• That sounds exhausting.
  

• Since you’re so interested in my hasband I’ll let you in on a little secret: he really likes leeks! You can find them in the mountains this time of year.

• Your grandpa used to complain about the rickety old bed. But I think, deep down, he actually loved that house.

• I’d lost sight of what matterd most in life… real connections with other people and nature. So I dropped everything and move to the place I truly belong.
  →なんか、“belong”っていう英単語がかなり好きなのかもしれないです。

• irritating
  →この単語って日本語の「イライラ」とちょっと似てませんか？笑

• I perform regular check-ups and medical procedures for all the residents of Pelican Town. It’s rewarding work. I hope you’ll find your own work equally rewarding, in time.
  

英語の本を読んだりゲームをやると、日本語に比べると脳内再生の精度が圧倒的に低いことを痛感します。音声のインプットが足りてないんだろうなと思います。脳内CVとか全然わかりません。
