感想。甘い樽の香りがかなり印象的。赤系果実、スイートスパイス、土っぽさ、力強い果実味、豊かな酸、タンニンは控えめでなめらか、長い余韻。
Located on a southeast-facing slope of the Willamette Valley's Chehalem Mountains AVA in the hills above Newberg,
Willamette Valley。 北部はオレゴン州で最も冷涼、高品質のピノ・ノワールの産地。夏の日中でも30度いかない。夕方から夜間に海から吹く冷たい風が気温を下げて、ぶどうの酸が落ちない＝フレッシュな酸をもつ。
Chehalem Mountains AVA。ウィラメット・ヴァレーのサブAVA。標高500mシェヘイラム山脈の斜面。標高60m-325mにかけて畑がある。標高が高いので、低地部よりやや温暖（そうなの？）霜もなく雨量すくない。
→アメリカ西海岸は海側が寒い（アラスカからの寒流）ので、海から風が入ってくる低い土地のほうが寒いのかしら。
→教本に答え合わせが…「カリフォルニアに比べて全般的にい気温が低く、秋の訪れのはやいオレゴンでは、いかに霜害のリスクを避け、ぶどうを完熟しやすい場所に畑を開くかが肝要。冷たい空気の滞留しやすい平地や斜面下部を避け、より日照量の多い斜面上部にぶどうを植える」
The elevation varies from 350ft-650ft and the vineyard rows are planted in a north-south direction,
benefiting from cool, drying winds through the 99W corridor which keep mildew and frost pressure at bay.
畑は標高100m−200mのところ、南北の方向で植わってる。99号線からの乾いた冷たい風の恩恵で、かびと霧を食い止めている。
The soils are primarily Loess (wind-blown ice age sediment) with bedrock and outcrops of volcanic Jory soils and deposits from the Missoula floods.
土壌はLoess黄土（風による氷河期の堆積物）と岩盤、ジョリー土壌の露頭（＝岩石や鉱脈の一部が地表に現れている所）とミズーラ洪水の堆積物
ジョリー土壌とは？Willakenzie Soil / 海洋性堆積土壌とJory Soil / 火山性土壌
オレゴンが持つ土壌の特徴のひとつが、ウィラケンジーと呼ばれる「海洋性堆積土壌」です。堆積岩の上に薄く広がる重めの土壌なので、ぶどうは早めに熟します。ピノ・ノワールに与える風味の特徴は、「黒系果実の風味」「チョコレート」「スパイス」。しっかりとした風味のピノ・ノワールが好きな人におすすめです!
オレゴンが持つ土壌のもうひとつの特徴が、ジョリーと呼ばれる「火山性土壌」です。バサルトの上に3m以上の深さで広がるローム質で、冷たい土壌なのでぶどうは晩熟です。ピノ・ノワールに与える風味の特徴は「赤系果実の風味」「デリケート」「華やか」。より繊細で優雅なピノ・ノワールが好きな人におすすめです!
This marks the first year we have included fruit from another vineyard in our Pinot Noirs, hence the Willamette Valley designation. In 2017, we sourced Pommard and Dijon clone 667 Pinot Noir from the great Luminous Hills vineyard in the Yamhill Carlton AVA. We are very pleased with the outcome as Luminous Hills fruit is “bigger” and more brooding than ours, and the combination of depth and elegance is exciting. SOLD OUT
Yamhill Carlton AVAはウィラメット・ヴァレーのサブAVAでシェヘイラム山脈よりやや西。周囲の山から冷たい風が遮られて、穏やかな気候。
いつもならChehalem Mountainsを表記するけど、産地が混ざっている（90％以上当該産地じゃないと名乗れない）のでより広域のWillamette Valleyを名乗っているのかな。

The palate entry is a bright, well-focused silky red fruit with essence of polished florals in the core finishing with mouth-coating minerality and licorice.
ミドルは明るく、インテンスな（Well-focusedうまくつかめず）なめらかな赤系果実にフローラルな要素を伴い、口中を包みこむようなミネラルとリコリスのニュアンスの余韻がある。
This is one of those ‘complete’ wines where one glass leads to another and soon the bottle is empty and you wonder where it all went. Just a beautiful experience. Drink 2020-2030.”
91 points: Vinous "Deep, bright-rimmed red. A sharply focused nose displays spice-accented red fruit and floral qualities and a zesty mineral overtone. Lithe and focused in the mouth, offering red currant and bitter cherry flavors and a subtle pastille note that emerges as the wine opens up. Finishes with sharp clarity, silky, slowly building tannins and sneaky persistence."
濃い赤、縁は明るい。スパイスのアクセントのある赤系果実と花、ピリッとしたミネラルの印象。なめらかで力強く、レッドカラントやビターチェリーの香りとわずかなトローチ（！？）の香りが現れる、飲みすすめるにつれて。フィニッシュはシャープな透明感、なめらかで、ゆったりしたタンニンが持続する。
