Jackson Pollock has been celebrated for his use of nontraditional materials and painting techniques in his action-style drip painting. It often goes under-acknowledged that Pollock was introduced to these types of materials by David Alfaro Siquerios during the Mexican muralist's Experimental Workshop in New York in 1936. In Twilight, Siqueiros utilizes pyroxylin paint, developed for the auto industry, to shimmering effects. This early work by Pollock is most indebted to Jose Clemente Orozco, another of the so-called Los Tres Grandes. Orozco's Prometheus made an enormous impact on Pollock when he saw it in 1930 at Pomona College in California.
