Class note ;The Entrepreneurship Training Course Workshop in MBA at Hosei university, Japan

Here are my notes from the Entrepreneurship Training Course Workshop at Hosei University on Saturday, October 24.
Speaker: President of Smart Shoe Maker

He liked music to begin with, but felt that electronic instruments were not something the average person would know how to handle and play. New ones are not easily accepted.
At that time, I had an opportunity to make a whiskey glass that played sound for a whiskey maker's commercial. With whiskey glasses, everyone can have them and they can make sounds.
Then I created shoes that glow with movement.
In some cases, we communicate directly with the Chinese factory and in other cases, a Japanese company participates in the process.
Never having made anything before is a risk for the factory. It is necessary to make an effort to build up arrangements one by one. At first, we asked a company that was familiar with EMS to join us, but even so, we had to communicate with them a lot to decide on the specifications. Cost and technology were both difficult. In the beginning, the profit margin was not considered.
It's hard to create value with something new, but no one buys something that's not new.
The company was voted the most innovative shoe in 2015, beating out Nike and Adidas. But at that point, it was just a concept and the actual shoes weren't out there yet.
Shoes are familiar to many people because everyone wears them. There were many people who gave me ideas on what they would do, and we collaborated on this project.
I think it was meaningful to make a product and present it to the world. But big companies are better at taking things to scale than us.
I leave the quality of the shoes to them. It's important to separate what we leave to them and what we insist on.

Thoughts
Few people really try to do what they thought was interesting when they were students. Eventually, they stop coming up with interesting ideas and start living efficiently. However, our speakers seem to keep trying to achieve what they found interesting as students. It is important to note that trying to do something interesting is not always interesting. It's the process of materializing something that has no substance or support. The speakers continue to strive to do so. This is what impresses many people, myself included.
