#97 Google検索だって負けてない (Youngers do not use google search anymore?)

情報検索といえばGoogleというのはもう古い！と言われてドキッとするのは僕だけではないはず、、、切実。三角関数のどれがどれだっけ（？）と調べたくて思わずGoogleで三角関数と検索して、その後ちょっと思い立ってYouTubeで三角関数と検索すると、、、でるはでるは、ものすごく説明のわかりやすい動画が沢山！学生時代に知りたかった、と思ったがそういえばまだガラ携もまだ出たばっかりだった。。。

以前若い世代の情報収集についての小ネタを書きました（ここ）が、それ以来TwitterやYouTubeでも検索をするように頑張ってみています（若作り）。どうもテレビ番組「マツコの知らない世界」ででも「ググるはもう古い」と紹介されていたりしたようす。いやいや。困りました。

ちょっとあがいてみようと、実際に検索結果の推移がGoogleとTwitterではどれくらい違うのかと調べてみようかと思い立って何か良い材料が無いかと探してみました。そう、そして今日はカノ有名な（？）スターウォーズの日。軽くTwitterで検索してみるとジョージ・ルーカスのフィギュアが売り切れていたり、May the force が May the 4th だから5月4日！とかつぶやかれていたりしていたので。それを題材にGoogle trend(2022)とTwitterで検索して比べてみた結果が上記のグラフです。

あ、よかった。まだまだGoogle検索でも乗り遅れすぎるっていうことは無いかも！って思いました。相関係数は0.92、高い！ざっくりしすぎると怒られるところかもしれませんが、相関係数というのは特定の条件のもと2つの数字のグループがどれだけ似ているか、くらいに理解して貰えれば。。。（すみません）

ここまで書いて思ったことが。これはひょっとして題材がスターウォーズで、おじさんホイホイのトピックだからなのか？スターウォーズ選んで時点でトレンドを掴みそこねているのか？もうちょっと若いトピックで次は試してみよう。いや、若いトピックってなんだろう？。。。もうだめかもしれない。

It seem using google for searching information is not a major way for youngers anymore. Did it upset you? Then I think you are my age group or more… Few days ago, I was looking at the definition of trigonometric function (Why…) since I was not sure which one was which… Then I tried to search it in YouTube too. I just was wondering how the result would be. Oh the result was awesome. It shows so many videos which explained about it in a way very easy to understand!! I really wanted to have them when I was young. Well, there wasn't even any smartphone when I was a student.

I wrote about how youngers search for information before (here). Since then, I'm trying my best to use Twitter & YouTube (Just trying to look younger…). One of the famous Japanese TV program also introduced that "Googling" is out of trend. Digital trend changes too fast.

I'm now wondering how far I am from trend with using google search… So I looked for topics which could be good to compare short term trend between google and twitter. I found that today is the Star wars day! Searching it by twitter it show few tweets saying "Lucas's figure is running out of stock", "4th of May turns to May forth which sounds good to May the force with you". OK this would be a good topic for today. Then the result is above. 

Oh! The lines are so similar!! (relieved). May be I'm not too out of trend yet. Correlation is 0.91. Well, correlation is roughly to tell you "How similar those to groups of figures are". Please do not blame me for the inaccurate explanation… Sorry Lol

After writing this post till here, one question came up to me. Is this because the topic itself "Star Wars" fits to older age group like myself? Does choosing this topic itself show that I'm out of trend in Japan?? (Hope not). Maybe I'll try with other younger topics next time but … what are younger topic?? (dying)
