#173 ゲリラ豪雨の統計 (Stats about "guerrilla" rain)

シンガポールといえば、そうスコールですよね（？）いま急に空が暗くなり、あっという間に雷がなり始め、強い雨が降り始めました。シンガポール政府提供のお天気アプリを見ると、厚い雲が来たから降りてきていて、比較的に長く降り続きそうだと言っています。室内から雷を眺めるのが趣味（？）の僕には結構楽しめる国です。

一方今は日本でもゲリラ豪雨というのがあると聞きました。名前の響きが好きです。僕が日本に住んでいた頃にはなかったような。そんなことない？話しに聞くとシンガポールのスコールにかなり近い気もする。シンガポールは結構道路とかが冠水して、バスが停まったりするお決まりの場所とかもあったりする。日本も似たような感じでしょうか？

ウェザーニューズ社の2021年の発表によると2021年7月1日〜9月30日の３ヶ月間で全国で63,515回のゲリラ豪雨が起きているそうです。おー。多いですね。90日だとすると1日約700回。どこかで必ずゲリラ豪雨が起きているレベル。ちなみに右の図が県別に、起きた回数で色分けしたものだそうです。なんか、どの都道府県で良くゲリラ豪雨が起きるのかというのを表示したものかと思ったのですが、ひょっとしたら単純に面積の大きいところが回数を稼いでいるだけかもしれないと思ったり思わなかったり。。。小さい県は回数少ないし。。。

右のグラフはゲリラ豪雨による被害状況のようですが、日本っぽいのは交通機関の麻痺かもですね。あと、ヒョウはまずシンガポールではみない。いやでも、10年間でたまにあって、あるとニュースになるレベル。そういえば韓国に社員旅行に行ったときに、生まれて初めて雪見ましたっていうメンバーいたし、気候の違いって面白いですよね。

What describes Singapore weather very well? I would say it is squall… Now the sky suddenly turned very dark and I hear the sound of thunder. Having a look at weather app provided from Singapore government, thick weather came down from north and it says that this rain will last until mid night. This forecasting is surely not very reliable. Well, I'm a big fun of thunder Lol Singapore is the fun country for me for that point…

By the way, I heard that recently there is similar phenomena in Japan which I didn't hear when I was in Japan. it is described "guerrilla" rain in Japanese, basically a sudden heavy rain like squall in Singapore (I assume). When we have it in Singapore, there is often road flood in some place. Or we just stuck in building. I'm wondering how does it work in Japan.

Weather news (2021) reported that there are 63,515 times of "guerrilla" rain in Japan from 1st July 2021 to end of Sep. That sounds a lot to me. assuming it is 90 days, there are almost 700 times of it in a day. We almost have "guerrilla" rain somewhere all the time… The left chart shows which prefecture has how many times of it in 3 month. I thought it shows which area tend to have more heavy rain than others but maybe it is just an issue of the size of the prefecture since it is simply the count… No? Smaller prefecture like Tokyo, Osaka has less from the chart Lol.

The right chart is what do people suffer from the rain. What we seldom see in Singapore would be confusion in public transportation and hailing. Japanese public transportation system is too many and sensitive to extreme weather conditions. It is also not that Singapore doesn't have hailing at all but it will be in news if it happens Lol. It is always interesting to compare weather across countries!
