#141 おじさんとは自己評価の高い生き物である (Mid age crisis is not recognized by themselves)

「おじさん」といものは語っても語りきれない、なんとも変わった生き物なのである。そういえば、「である」って普段なかなか使わないですよね。なんとなくかしこまりたいときには便利な気がする。さて、「おじさん」（まあ私のことですが）。なんか「中高年」みたいな単語と比べると、使うときにはやや「ネガティブ」な意味を持たせて使うことも多いような。

年をとるということがネガティブに捉えられているというよりは、なんか世の中には「おじさん」という、ちょっと劣化してしまった別の生き物がいるみたいな（さみしい）捉え方をされているような（被害妄想？）。この場合のおじさんって身体的な特徴というよりも、心のありようを指摘されているような気もする。世の中の「おじさん」はそんな周りからの評価とどう戦っているのだろうか？

そんなことを考えていたら、世の中のおじさんに対する評価と、おじさんの自己評価を比較した調査を発見しました（日経クロストレンド,2022）。上のグラフがその比較です。「おしゃれが上手か」を聞かずに「おしゃれが下手か」を聞いているあたりに、おじさんに対する悪意もちょっと感じたりする。。。（妄想）。そしてこの調査はちょっと面白い。世の中の「おじさん」は「僕」というおじさんよりもだいぶたくましく生きている。世の中の70%がおじさんダサいと言っているなか、70%以上のおじさんが自分はダサくないと言っている。。。

世の中の60%の人がおじさん元気ないと言っている中、自分で元気がないと思っているおじさんはたった23%。なんとも陽気な結果である。え、これはおじさんの自己評価が高過ぎるのか、世の中の人がおじさんに低評価すぎるのか。世の中の大半の人におじさんダサくて元気がないと思わせているのはなんなんだろう？でも、世の中の評価に真っ向から逆らうおじさんたちをみて、おじさんちょっと元気が出ました。

There is a word "Ojisan" in Japanese which is basically about middle age men. But it expresses something much more than the demographics. In Singapore English "Uncle" is the same word when you use it not to your relatives. That is something people don't like to be called.  I'm definitely "Ojisan" in general, but it conveys something negative when people call me Ojisan.

It is not that aging itself is considered to be negative but more like there are … degraded human called "Ojisan" separately (So sad). I just might be paranoia. Also in this case Ojisan is not about physical feature but emotional feature. I'm wondering how other Ojisans fight against  general negative perception from people? I (Ojisan) need help…

Then I found one report which compares general perception about Ojisan and Ojisan's self assessment (Nikkei x trend ,2022). The chart above is the comparison. I feel evil intention in the survey options that they don't ask if you are fashionable but ask if you are not fashionable… Anyway this is so interesting! Ojisans in the world actually live a life much more positively than I do. 70% of people think that Ojisans are not cool but only 27% of Ojisans think that they are not cool…

60% of people think that Ojisans are not active but only 23% of Ojisan consider them that they are not active! Um? Is this that their self-assessment is too naive or positive?? Or people are to harsh to Ojisans? Ummm What makes people think that Ojisan is not cool and not active? Anyway this Ojisan (me) got cheered up by seeing other Ojisans are fighting against general perception with seeing them positive.
