#151 意識高い系はいい言葉 (Lets be a "Go-getter")

「意識高い系」という言葉は、過剰に自己アピールをする人を表現する言葉だということです。（なんか言葉自体が何かギスギスしている）。この言葉の所為で、本当に意識の高い人もなんとなく揶揄されてしまってかわいそう。いやでもあの人は「意識の高い人」だね、という表現だと悪意は感じないような（？）、とすると悪の元凶は「系」なのか？

過剰にアピールすると揶揄されるということは、日本では意識の高い人は主にひっそりと生活しているのかもしれない。見つけ出してみたい（笑）。いやそもそも「意識高い系」という言葉をネガティブに捉えている僕が意識が低いだけに違いない。今日本にいる人達はどう思ってるんだろう？

ちょっと古いですがいい感じの調査が見つかりました。株式会社オウチーノ(2016)が首都圏の20代と30代の社会人860人に「意識高い系」実態調査というのを発表しています。なんでこんな調査うったんだろう。。。これによると「意識高い系」というのを否定的に捉えている人は、、！たった25%。あらら、自分の頭が古すぎました。ポジティブに捉える人が37%でネガティブの人より多い（すごい）。「意識高い系」はもはや揶揄する単語じゃなかった。失礼しました。

そして、左のグラフによると自己、もしくは他人に言われたことがあるというのを含めると49%の人が意識高い系に当てはまっている。ほう。それはもはや高いというより普通なのでは？（驚愕）。半分の人が、頑張っているもしくは、他人から頑張っていると思われている。いい世の中（？）になってきました。ちなみに調査の中では「自他ともに認める」と答えた人の中で理由として一番高かったのは「身だしなみや美容、健康に気を遣っているから」だったとのこと。うん、ちょっとイメージ違うか？まあいいか。

In Japan there is the word "Ishiki Takai kei" like "Go-getter" in English. My perception is that that word is used negatively describing people who overly promote themselves. Well not a peaceful word to me. Those who actually work/study hard are made fun of because of this word.

It is not surprising to see that promoting themselves overly is not preferred in Japanese culture so maybe they live a quiet life, hide their behavior out from public…? I want to find them Lol. Or is it really true that "Ishiki takai kei" is a negative word? Maybe I'm too old fashion for saying it. How do people think about it?

I found a suitable report although it is a bit old. O-ucchino, Inc. published a report Perception and facts about "Ishiki takai kei" in 2016 with 860 samples around greater Tokyo. I'm wondering why they wanted to make this report… According to the right chart, only 25% of people think the word negative!! Oh my. Obviously my perception was wrong. 37% of people think it positive and that is more the negative (Surprising!). The word is not the negative word any more…

Also according to the left chart, 49% of people are either think themselves as go-getter or have been said that they are! 49%! Its not "high" any more but normal!!? Half of people think that they pay attention to self improvement or  they have been said that they work hard on it! Such a peaceful(?) world, I like it. By the way, the report mentions that the biggest reasons of being go-getter is "Being conscious about appearance, beauty, and health"…? Um. a bit far from my perception. Well better don't care…
