#186 クリスマスは家族の日？ (Is Christmas the day for family?)

年末が近づいている感、、、ありますか？季節感がない国シンガポール。今日も短パンで出かけていはいますが、クリスマスまで後２週間です。どこもかしこもクリスマスツリーはあります。マンションの入口、オフィスの受付、マクドナルドのレジ。でも気温は27度（雨で若干低め）。ちなみにオーストラリアのサンタクロースは水着でサーフィンしてたような。。。

この時期ニュースリリースとかを検索していると、クリスマス関連の調査が目白押しではあります。みんなこんなものを買いたいと思っているらしいですよ、みたいな調査から、みんな誰と過ごす？みたいな調査まで。SNSでコンテンツとして配信したりもしているっぽいですね。日本のクリスマスはちょっと西欧圏と違うので面白いですよね。ケンタッキーが売れちゃうところとか（笑）

クリスマスはオーストラリアとシンガポールは「家族との日」みたいな感じでしたが日本のように「恋人との日」みたいな国もあるのだろうか。上のグラフはウェブスターマーケティング株式会社が去年（2021年）に出した調査結果ですが、やはり日本では約8割近くがクリスマスまでに恋人がほしい、もしくは今いると答えているようです（左のグラフ）。そもそもこの調査が11月の末に行われたようなので、今恋人がいない人にとってはかなり慌ただしいことにはなりそう。。。

でも現実としては、63%が本当は恋人と過ごしたいと言っているにも関わらず、実際に恋人と過ごせそうな人は37%（泣）まあ、いるいないという話だけでなく、いるけれど仕事で無理という人も多そう。あれ、いや去年は25日は土曜日だった。なるほど、なるほど。ちなみにレポートでは、一人で過ごす人にも結構（約20％）ケーキを買って食べるという人がいて、ちゃんとクリスマスを満喫している感あるな、と思ったりしました。僕は、、、ケーキよりはビールだな。

Do you feel that the year end if coming? We have very less seasonality in Singapore and it is a bit difficult to feel it here. For Japanese, year end is associated with cold weather. I go out with half pant now in Singapore. I see many Christmas trees in Singapore. At the entrance of my condo, the reception of the office and even McDonalds'. But the temperature is 27 degree (Its slightly cooler since its raining today). By the way, Santa Clause in Australia was surfing with swim wear Lol

Reading through news release of many companies, there are many research/articles about Christmas. For example, "Popular Christmas present in this year!" type of articles or "Who do you spend Christmas with?" and so on. It seems companies are using this as contents to show on social media. I personally like how Christmas is different in Japan from other western countries like KFC is the popular Christmas food in Japan Lol

In Australia and Singapore where I have lived, Christmas is the day to spend with family. Is there any other country which Christmas is the day to spend with your partner/lover like Japan? The chart above refers to Webstar-Marketing Inc. (2021). According to that, around 80% of people wants to have a partner by Christmas or they have it now (The left chart). This survey was conducted at the end of Nov, so it seems people has to take a quick action if you didn't have at the time…

Christmas is the day to remind single person that they are alone in Japan… In reality, while 63% of people want to spend time with a partner, people who have the plan is only 37% (sad). Well, it is not just people have a partner or not but you might have been busy working and couldn't make it. Ops, 25th last year seems to be Saturday?? I see, I see. The report also mentions that among those who spend Christmas alone, 20% planed to buy cakes for themselves and enjoyed Christmas. That is good although I would go more for beer than cakes Lol.
