#52 結婚の条件は高いのか、余計なお世話なお話 (What do you expect

久しぶりにオフィスに行きました。最近は朝毎日同じ場所（マーライオン近く）にジョギングに行く以外は、日用品の買い物でしか外に出ない生活のためあまり気が付かなかったのですが、いろいろなところでクリスマスの準備がスタートしてました。シンガポールはクリスマスが祝日なのです。うーん、去年は何をしていたかも思い出せないクリスマス、今年も特に予定はしていないので、来年も「去年何してたか思い出せない」と言っていそうな気もする。

オフィスのメンバーで2020年-2021年の間に結婚した人が2人もいたのに、コロナ規制により、大々的なお祝いをできなかったのも甘酸っぱい思い出。話を聞いていると、結婚相手に求めるものという基準も共働きが基本のシンガポールでは結構日本と違いそう。日本では度々話題になる結婚相手に求める年収、なんていうゴシップも探してみたのですが数字は見つかりませんでした。

日本では「期待値が高い」みたいに話題になりがちの数字ですが、実際どのくらい期待値が高いっていう話なのかをちょっと調べてみました。たまにはこういう話もいいですよね。

上記は、統計局(e-Stat)の未婚男性の年収データとWoman type調べによる女性が結婚相手に期待する年収というデータを合わせたグラフになります。赤が女性が求める最低年収、青がその期待値だと男性の何％が対象になるのかというものを示しました。一番割合の多い最低年収は500万円以上600万円未満ですが、その期待値だと男性の15%が対象に入るようです。おっと、、、これは見てはいけないものを見てしまったか。殆どの男性は女性陣の期待値に到達してない。。。なんか、すみません（反省）。

いやいや、そうか競争の問題もあるから、500-600万円の男性だとライバルが女性の70%、600-700万円の男性だと女性の85%がライバルと考えると倍率はさらに高いか。。。

そもそも世帯主である、未婚男性全部が入っている年収なので、年配の方も多そう（私）。これは、クラリスマスの平和なムードがちょっと吹き飛んだ。ま、結婚相手は年収で決まるわけではないですよね？ね？（希望）

I went to the office for work. Recently I go out only for my jogging and grocery shopping. So I didn’t recognize the change in town but it seems Christmas season has been started. Christmas is a public holiday in Singapore. I can not remember what did I do on the last Christmas and don’t have particular plan this year too. So I will say “I can not remember what did i do” next year again, I think…

While I had 2 female colleagues who got married under COVID, Big regret is that we could not do anything to them (Sad). Listening to them who are freshly married, it seems what you require to your partner is slightly different. Since there are many couples which female partner becomes a house wife after getting married, there is one famous topic that is spoken frequently among women. "How much do you expect to your partner’s salary?”

Discussion always falls to if the expectation is to high or not (Gossipy). Since Christmas in Japan is the day for couples, I tried to search for evidence to show if their expectation is reasonable or not. 

The chart above is made from 2 data source, unmarried male salary data from e-Stat and female expectation data by woman type (2021). Red is to show how many female expect that salary range as minimum requirement. Blue is to show how much of males are within that expectation. it seems 5MM-6MM JPY range is the most popular minimum requirement (29.7%) while only 15 % of males are covered from that range or above… Ops shouldn’t I search for this data? It seems very less males are within female’s expectation… Feels so sorry for that (Sad).

Additionally, there is competition within Women. For example 70% of female accept the range of 5MM-6MM. So it’s ,,, Competitive!!

This male data covers most of single male exclude students. So many old males would be included in this like myself… So if you take the age group you consider as your potential partner, it would be farther competitive. I think my peaceful Christmas mood has gone and I’m back to reality. Anyway, you don’t decide your partner only from his salary, do you?? No?? :D
