#144 １年中Tシャツです (How long does your T-shirts survive?)

シンガポールに住んでいますと話すと「生活費が高いんでしょ」と言われることが多いです。10年住んでいての感覚としては、まあ高いものもある、いや日本に住むよりは高いけどたまに安いものもあるくらいな感じでしょうか。やっぱり日本に帰ると「安い！」ってびっくりすることが多いです。ちなみに最近はシンガポールもいろいろなものの値上げが始まっています。ホーカーのご飯も10%程度は。

なかでもシンガポールにいて、日本にいたときよりも明らかにお金を使っていないものというと、、、洋服でしょうか。意外？いや洋服が安いというわけではないのです、シンプルにずっと夏なだけです。男性目線だと１年中Tシャツです。コートとか買わないので安い。季節ごとの買い替えもないので合計すると安い。ただ１年中着ているので、ヘタると買い替えます。２年は着ていない気がするけどどうだろう。。。

TARROW TOKYO調べ（2022）によると、日本人は平均９枚のTシャツを持っているらしいです。今自分の棚で数えてみました。下着的な使い方をしているものを抜かすと12枚。なんと僕は日本人平均より多かったです。やはり一年中夏でTシャツ消費が激しい可能性あり（？）。うーん、よく考えてみると12枚も日常使ってない気がする。断捨離必要か？

右のグラフをみると、2年以内に着回す人は39%と少ない（少なくない？）。いや、別に毎日夏じゃないからそんなもん？常夏のシンガポールを考慮に入れると、日本の倍は酷使しているから、いい数字かもしれない。そして1シーズンだけ着て捨ててしまうという人も約５％。なんか毎シーズン服を買い替えるおしゃれの達人は全体の5%！と言われるとなんか納得感ある（謎）そんなイケオジもちょっと憧れるなぁ（遠い目）

I am often told from my friends in Japan that Living cost in Singapore must be expensive! From my 10 years life in Singapore, it is mostly right. But not applicable to everything. Public transportation, taxi are cheaper in Singapore for example. Honestly I'm surprised for the cheaper price every time I go back to Japan. By the way, following recent world wide situation, Singapore is also suffering from price hike. My daily meal in hawker center also got to increase the price by around 10% (Not all yet).

What I think I spend much less in Singapore is cloths. It is not that price for cloths is cheaper but simply because there is only summer in Singapore. We don't need the change cloth for every season. Also I don't need to buy expensive cloth like coats (Winter cloth). From male point of view, I spend most of a year with T-Shirts. So total cost for cloth is cheaper. Well since I wear T-shirts through a year, so it wears off faster than in Japan. So I don't think I wear 1 T-shirts for 2 years, mostly less than that.

According to TARROW TOKYO（2022）, Japanese has average 9 T-Shirts. Let me count mine… It seems I have 12. Oh, surprisingly more than average Japanese! I didn't expect that. But maybe because I'm in Singapore which has no season and wear it for entire year? Ummm, actually I don't think I wear 12 T-Shirts regularly… Maybe I'm just lazy to throw them away…

Having a look at the right chart, in Japan % of people who throw their T-Shirts after 2 year is around 39%. Oh. Less than I expected. But main season for T-Shirts in Japan is around summer, maybe half a year. Then I use it whole year since Singapore is always summer. So I use it harder than in Japan? So maybe a reasonable number?? Also there is 5% of people who only use T-Shirts for 1 season (3 months). It sounds somehow reasonable to say that those who are sensitive to fashion is top %5 in total. I wondering if I can or want to be in the category? Maybe a bit difficult…
