#8 肉食と言えなくもない(Meat lovers)

8月末は忙しい。8月29日に焼き肉の日があり、31日に野菜の日がある。とにかく食べてくれというプレッシャーを感じるし、「そうか、だったら焼肉食べよう」みたいな、普段と変わらない欲求を感じたりもする。「美味しいものはカロリーが高い」という言葉に身を任せたりもする、そう今日は焼き肉の日だから。一方世の中で自分を「肉食」と言うことには、勘違いで褒められてしまったときのような照れを感じる。今更実はただ肉を食べるが好きなだけなんですとは言いづらいような、でもそのまま放っておいては大変な勘違いが起きそうな感じもする。

QOM総研 (2020)の調査によると30代男性の74%が自分のことをどちらかと言うと草食系だ、と言っているし、その数は年々増えているとも言われていないこともない。一方突然ではあるが,  博報堂生活総合研究所(2020)の上記グラフによると好きな食べ物はなんですかという質問に「焼き肉」と答える男性は年々増えている（何の比較？）。2020年時点で好きな食べもを「焼き肉」と答えた人は78.5%、ほぼ草食系と思っている人と同じ割合。想像するに、実は肉食な性格だということを隠したオオカミさんが多いのか、肉を好きなことと肉食な性格であることは関係ないのか（正解）。少なくともガンガン焼き肉を食べながら、僕は草食系なんですという矛盾（？）は僕が思うよりも一般的ではあるのかもしれない。やっぱり、関係ないのかな。

August is the busy month for  me. We have Yakiniku (BBQ) day on 29th and vegetable day on 31st(*1 see below for the details). I feel high social pressure to eat more, also feel like going to eat BBQ (actually not particularly for this month). I leave myself in the attractive copy "The higher the calorie is, The better it tastes" Yakiniku-day justifies it. In a mean time, in Japan "Nikuchoku (meat eater)" often implies a person who go better or is aggressive to get a partner, is assertive. Saying I love eating meat sounds different, well I am a bit embarrassed  to say that. If I leave it, it might lead a huge misunderstanding. Maybe I'm thinking too much. 

According to QOM-Soken (2020), Around 74% of 30th Male claimed that their characteristic is "Soshoku(Vegetable eater)", and it is said that the number is in increasing trend. By the way, Research from Hakuhodosoken (Chart above) shows that the number of male who claimed that they love eating meat has increase in a long run. 78.5% of males in 2020 answered that they like eating meat which is almost the same figure as number of people who claimed they are "Sochoku" (What a comparison...). I assume wildly that Japanese males are too shy to say they are meat eaters or intentionally hide it lie hunters, or ... Maybe there is no relationship between eating meat and "Nikushoku" characteristics (correct). At least, it seems to be common that many men claim that they are not meat eaters while they are eating meat. Umm I see.
