#183 タイ料理が大好きすぎる (I thought everybody likes Thai food)

久しぶりに日本以外の場所に出張に行ってきました。バンコク。シンガポール以外のアジアに行くのも２年半ぶり。話を聞くには、名高い交通渋滞が以前よりもひどいレベルにはコロナからも回復している様子。知り合い二人と週末に合う約束をしていたのですが、そのうちの一人がコロナで急遽来れなくなったのは時節柄しょうがないですね。これを機に世界がドタキャンに寛容にならないかしら。。。？

ちなみに友人が食べに行ったのはMookataと呼ばれる、焼肉屋さん（？）に連れて行ってくれました。友人曰く不便を楽しむ食べ物であるとのこと。。。ちょっとツルツルしたジンギスカン鍋のような形のもので、縁には水を注いでスープを作って野菜を煮込みながら真ん中では滑り落ちそうになる肉を押さえながら焼くのがポイントだと（笑）タイ料理は最高です。

と思っていたら衝撃の調査にぶつかってしまいました。マイボイスがどんな料理が好きで、苦手かという調査を2021年に発表していました。和食が87%で好きな料理トップ。いや、首がもげるほど同意。やはり自分が日本育ちだとここで証明されますね。２位が洋食。ほうほう。３位が中華。なるほどなるほど。好きな料理は別に気にならない。苦手な料理！まさかの軒並みアジア料理。。。東南アジアに長くいすぎて完全に感覚がバグっている。

タイ料理、ベトナム料理を苦手にしている人は、、、！パクチーとかでしょうか。韓国料理もあるから辛いのが苦手勢かしら。タイ料理が苦手な人24%。約4人に1人。結構ショッキングな数字に触れてしまった（笑）これはやはり自分の感覚が以下に世の中を代表していないかのわかりやすい事例ですね。反省反省。

Its been quite a while visiting a country besides Japan. I visited Bangkok for the first time after pandemic for a business trip. I heard that Bangkok is as normal as the famous traffic Jam in Bangkok is back to normal or even worse. I was planning to meet up my friends on weekend but one informed me suddenly that she got COVID and couldn't make it Lol. I can not be helped. I really hope that the world is getting generous to people who made a sudden cancellation thanks to COVID…

By the way, my friend took me to Thai style BBQ called Mookata. She told me that people come to Mookata to enjoy inconvenience for eating it… They use unique pots with a slightly raised center and grooves on the edges. You pour soup at the edge and boil vegetables. Then grill meats at the center trying to avoid slipping them off to soup Lol. It was a bit of torture! I really like Thai food!

While I was thinking about my favorite Thai food, I found a surprising report. Myvoice published a report about what are the favorite food for you and what you don't like in 2022. Top favorite is Japanese food 87%. I can not agree more and now I found that I'm still a Japanese. 2nd western food (Vague definition) 66% and 3rd 65%. I see, I see. I don't have any opinion about the favorite part. BUT "Food you don't like"!!!. Top listed foods are all my favorite Asian food!!! Well, I think I live in South East Asia for too long and I'm far from regular Japanese perception…

What are the reasons of not liking Thai/Vietnamese food for Japanese? !! Is it coriander? (Maybe) or since Korean is included is it chili?? too spicy to people? 24% don't like Thai food, 1 our of 4 people, Sad. It is so surprising. Well this is the typical case to show the importance on research. Your idea doesn't always represent regular opinion of people!! I should keep it again in mind.
