#24 猫はお魚を咥えるのか (Cat - Fish relationship)

ペットを飼い始めたという友人が増えているような気がする。シンガポールでも比較的住宅での規制がゆるいのか、僕の住んでいるマンションでもよく大きい、もしくは小さい犬にエレベーターでよく出会う。そして可愛い。

一方シンガポールでは国民の8割程度が公営住宅に住んでいるのですが、一部の例外を除いて猫を飼ってはいけないというルールがあり、そこに住んでいる限り猫を飼うことはできないようなのです（へー）。

コロナ前は出張が多かった僕も、動物を飼うことはほぼ諦めていましたが、こんなに一箇所に長くとどまるのであれば、飼えるかも。とかいや、自分の身の回りも整理できないのに、動物様の命をあずかるとか、いやいや、とか揺れている状態です。

さてそんな環境の中、2021年現在皆さんはどんな動物を飼いたいと思っているのだろうかと調べると、株式会社プラネットさん(2021)の調査に行き着きました。やはり予想通り犬猫が人気2トップとなっているようです。基本的に女性の方がやはりペットを飼いたいという願望が強いようにもみえる（ざっくり）。やはり男性は、生き物よりもゲーム（二次元）が好きなのか（偏見）、、、いやきっと愛の総量が少なすぎて人間以外に割く余裕がないのか（なんのこと？）

一方男性の方が意向の高いのが、観賞魚と昆虫。ですよね、やっぱりカブトムシとクワガタですよね。少年の夢ですよね（うふふふふ）。まあ少年だった時代は35年以上前なのでよく覚えてはいないのですが。。。観賞魚は、なんでだろう。

シンガポールは上記の事情もあり、ペットオーナーのうち60%が犬を保有、猫と観賞魚が約同率で20%くらいと観賞魚は人気のペット。うーん、まあでも猫が下がるとお魚が上がるというのは「気分」的にはわからなくもないような。

Some of my friends started to have pets. I'm not sure if it is easy to have a dog in Singapore but I see them quite often even in lifts at my condo. Some are small, some are big, both are cute.

On the other hand, around 80% of Singaporeans live in HDB flat, kind of public housing, and people are basically not allowed to have cats in HDB without few exceptional cases. (did you know about it?). But we see many wild case outside of HDB anyway.

Since I often go overseas for business before covid, I gave up having any pets. I didn't expect that I would stay in Singapore for this long without traveling. So now I might be able to have pets!? I people would say that you have to take care of yourself before taking care of pets... Yes true.

PLANET, Inc (2021) mentions what animal do people want to have as a pet in this situation. Top 2 in Japan are dogs and cats as expected. Also I can roughly tell, females want to have pets more that males. Ummm Do Japanese males love 2D (Anima?Games?) more than live animals? (prejudice) or may be they spent all of their love to families! (Can be...???).

On the other hand, % of males is higher in fish & insects! YEEEES, Insects well beetles and stag beetles are dream of Japanese boy!! even though I'm currently far from a boy over 35 years... I don't remember clearly but it is supposed to be. Fish... don't know why.

According to STATISIA (2018), share in pets are 60% dogs, cats are much lower around 20%, fish is also around 20% which is much higher than in Japan. Emotionally I understand that fish comes higher when cats goes down(Bad joke). They can not stand together maybe.
