#107 父の日は以前思っていたよりもメジャー？ (Father's day was not as ignored as I thought it was?)

日本に到着しました。出張で２週間頑張りたいと思います。さてさて、６月１日からいろいろ変わるという日本の空港の最新状況をちょっとだけ。基本とてもスムーズでした。出発前にPCR検査を受け、その結果とワクチン証明をMySOSアプリに登録。３０分くらいで承認されるという（驚くべき）スピード（失礼）。そして空港ではその画面を見せるだけでほぼ素通り。荷物が受け渡し所（グルグル回るところ？）に到着する前に、そこにたどり着きました。素晴らしかったです。

さて、父の日が明日数週間に迫ってまいりました。6月19日です。以前母の日と比べるとなんで父の日は存在感が低いのだろうという記事（ここ）を書きましたが、実態はどうなんでしょう。今年は19日まで日本にいるので、なんとなく街の様子とかが実感できることでしょう（盛り上がっていれば）。デパートとかに行けばきっと。というか父の日って何するんだろう（祝ったこと無い）。

バスリエ株式会社（2022）の調査によると、父の日にギフトを毎年送っている人は66%で、母の日ギフトの64.5%よりもやや高い結果となっています。。。え？？そんなことあります？（父の日に失礼）。前回の記事によると父の日惨敗、しかも母の日でも毎年プレゼントを送っている人は55%と大分低かったのです。。。

いやいや、実は調査ではよくあることです。何かの条件が違っていれば。。。上の調査によると父の日にギフトを送る人は93%。流石に多すぎる。いや、ひょっとしたら世の中知らないうちに、お父さんを大事にするようになったか？（うれしい）。答えは調査概要にありました。調査対象者が「父の日ギフトに関心の高い男女333名」とのこと。まあ、関心の高い人だけを選べばこうなるか。そうですよね。いつの日か、このような条件がなくても、母の日に並ぶ存在になって欲しい、父の日。僕は、父親ではないですが。。。

Arrived at Tokyo and I'll be here for 2 weeks! Also let me update the situation of airport in Japan since the regulation has changed since 1st Jan. Basically it was much smoother than I experienced last time. I had to still get pre departure PCR and register that result and vaccination history to Mysos app. The approval on the app was made surprisingly in 30 minutes!! I showed the screen in the airport in Japan and all registration went very quick. I arrived at baggage reception before my bag arrived there! (Awesome). We no longer need to stay in the airport unnecessarily long!

By the way (?), father's day is arriving within few weeks. 19th Jun. I posted before why presence of father's day is lower than mother's day (here). But I'm wondering how the actually situation in Japan is. I'll be in Japan till 19th. So I'll be able to check how does it look in the city (If it is somehow popular as a commercial event… Well, how people celebrate father's day (I have never done before…Sorry)

According to Bathlier (2022), % of people who give a gift to their father every year is 66 while mother's day is 64.5%… Huh?? It can not be (I'm too rude to father's day). In my past article, mother's day is much more recognized than father's day and % of people who buy gift to their mom are 55% which is much lower than the chart on the right… WHY?

No, surprise. Actually this thing happens very often and this is how stats cheat you. Most likely it is from the difference in survey design. Um, due to the chart above, 93% of people celebrate father's day with gift which is too extreme in Japan. No maybe people suddenly get to show respect to their father,,, due to COVID?? (Of course, not).
The answer is on survey overview section. Respondents of this survey are 333 people who are "interested in buying gift for father's day". I don't know why they design the research in this way. But if you choose people who are very interested in father's day gifts, no doubt results would be like this. I really hope that someday fathers day will be as popular as mother's day. Though I'm not a father of somebody yet…
