#180 シンガポールのマスク人口 (Face mask stats in Singapore)

なんか久しぶりにマスクを忘れて家を出ました。シンガポールざっくりと公共の交通機関以外はマスクを付けなくても良いと規制が８月に緩和されました。なのですが、なんなら今日忘れたと気がついてなんか不安になったくらいにはマスクに慣れてしまったようです。もちろんコロナ前はマスクをほぼ付けたことがなかったので、なかなかの成長（？）。僕は眼鏡をかけているのでやっぱりマスクがないと曇らなくて楽。この気持分かってもらえるかしら。。。

なんか日本でもマスクをどうしていくのかが話題になっているらしいし、シンガポールではどんな状況なのかが気になったりしてるかもと（そんなことないか）。シンガポールのマスクの統計が無いかを探してみました。

ヤフーシンガポールの2022年の記事によると、例えばショッピングセンターでマスクを必ず付けている人が約50%とのこと。ちなみにこの数字は８月末時点で、屋内のマスクが解禁されてからまもなくのころでした。そう、僕の感触も解禁された直後は意外とみんなマスクつけてるなでした。オフィスでも取ろうか取るまいかを悩んでいた時期で約70%がつけているというのも確かにそんな感じだったなぁと。このグラフを見ると、やはり知らない人との距離が近そうなところではマスクをつけよう、みたいになんとなく思っていたことが感じられる（懐かしい）

さて、じゃあ今の実感はというと、、、うーんこれの三分の一くらいでしょうか。自分のオフィス内ではほぼ誰もつけなくなっています。道を歩いている人でいうと、もう3人に一人もマスクを付けてないと思いますが、全くいないというほどでもないという感じです。なんかほっといたらこのままなくなっていくんじゃないかという程度には減少傾向かな。ちなみにドラッグストアなどでもマスクはだいぶ安売り中。ま、そうですよね。。。

I realized that I left my face mask at home which would be the first time after pandemic. Face mask is not mandatory in Singapore since August except for some particular place like public transportation. However I'm kind of too used to wearing mask that I feel uncomfortable not having it. Of course, I didn't use a mask at all before pandemic. So I feel my improvement(?). Actually I don't like masks since I wear glasses. I guess all who wear glasses can agree on this Lol.

Since I heard that it is a hot topic in Japan when to leave our mask or not, I thought it would be interesting to find comparable stats in Singapore for my Japanese friends. 

According to Yahoo! Singapore article in 2022, for example around 50% of people still use mask all the time in shopping malls. By the way, this is the status on end of Aug which is right before the announcement of relaxing the mask regulation. Yes, I remember that I thought people wore masks more than I expected at that time. I also was wondering if I should take off my mask in the office so around 70% of people using masks fit to my feeling. Having a look at this chart, people still considered to wear a mask when the distance with unknow people is closer even after mask regulation is gone.

Well, how does it work now? My guts feeling tells me that it is almost one third of this chart. Almost nobody wears a mask in my office at least. (Of course, I don't have accurate stats). Walking on the street, less than 1 in 3 people wear a mask which is more than "No" people. But I feel like it would naturally decrease and will be almost disappear some day. By the way, masks are sold in very cheap price compared with before. Over stock Lol
