#152 なぜ本は買っただけで満足しちゃうんだろう？ (Can you be satisfied with books without reading it?)

「読書の秋」という不思議に思っていた単語があります。なんで秋？運動の秋はなんとなくわかる。涼しくて動きやすそう（勘）。食欲の秋、わかりすぎる。いろいろな作物の季節がが来たりするから。読書はいつでもよいような。。。そうでもないかな？秋になると出版物が多い、みたいな謎があったりするのかしら（調べないタイプ）。

実は最近悩みがあったりします。それは「積読」。紙の本は買うとどこかで積まれて邪魔になるので、早く読まなきゃという気持ちにさせてくれました。それが電子書籍になると、、、積んでおいてもわからないため、どんどん買っちゃう。いまやすでに読んだかも自信がない本がいっぱい入っています。本って買っただけで人間を満足させる謎の力をもってると思う（僕だけかもしれない）。

いやいや、そんなことはないはずだ。調べてみよう。。。株式会社丸善ジュンク堂書店の2019年の書店への来店者の調査によると、約80%の人は積読もってるらしい（左のグラフ）。まあまあ、そうですよね。誰でも読んでない本の１冊くらい。問題はどのくらい持ってるかですよね。。。右のグラフによると、おー、積読持っている人の内66%が6冊以上積んである。これはこれは。なんなら31冊以上ある人が23%いる（ホッ）。

レポートには積んである理由も述べられてましたが、「買っただけで満足した」という人も3割くらいは。。。（爆笑）情報を買っているはずの本で、買っただけで満足しているの意味がわからないですが、自分が特別おかしいわけではないことが分かって安心はしました（謎）。
いや、日本の本って美しいですしね。外国の方が日本に来たときおもしろスポットとして本屋を勧めることは結構あります。紙質が良くて、美しくて、安い。絵本みたいに言葉がわからなくてもなんとなく楽しめるものだといいおみやげになったりもするのです。

There is a mysterious phrase "Autumn for reading" in Japan. What's special in Autumn for book reading? Autumn is actually associated with many words like exercise, appetite.  Understand for exercise since its good cool weather. Good also for food since Autumn is the season for many type of food! But reading can be anytime? No? Is there any reasons like a lot of books are published in Autumn? (try not to google...)

I have a concern recently about reading. I used to pile up books when I buy and that push me to read them since its just disturbing... Now I mainly buy e-books and I can not tell how many unread books I have now Lol. So I buy more than before. Then I have many books which i'm not sure if I read it or not. I think books have interesting power that they make us satisfied only by buying them (Maybe only me). 

No. I don't think its only me. Lets search for evidence. According to MaruzenJunkudo Bookstores (2019) 80% of book store customers have books which they haven't read yet. Ok, of course everybody could have 1 or 2 books. So important point is how many? The right chart shows it. around 64% of people have 6 or more unread books! 23% have more than 30 books! Yes! 

The report shows the reasons of it and around 30% people say that they are satisfied just by buying them Lol. You bought information and are satisfied without having a look at information (Me)! I'm relieved to know that its not only my. 
Well, I actually often recommend foreigners to stop by book stores in Japan. Paper quality of Japanese books are good, book itself is beautiful and cheap. So books like picture book can be very good and beautiful souvenir for your family if you want to buy something not usual.
