新しゅうきたメンバー、JSPS外来研究員のJohn Bedford氏が岩石物性グループに着任したき紹介するきね。
大変な時期やけど、PCR検査の陰性確認後、成田での2週間の待機期間も終わり、無事に高知に来たがよ。
漢字の名前は、如雲(ジョン)に決まり、今後のコア研での活躍が楽しみやねー！
ジョンは背が高いき、すごい目立つがよ。もし高知のスーパーとかで見かけたら声を掛けちゃって！嬉しがると思うき❤
如雲さんの抱負
「高知に来ることができて本当に嬉しいです。高知コア研究所には、摩擦実験装置をはじめワールドクラスの設備がそろっています。ここでの研究が地震メカニズムの解明のお役にたてればと思います。」
ジョンは2018年10月から実施された地球深部探査船「ちきゅう」による国際深海科学計画（IODP）第358次研究航海「南海トラフ地震発生帯掘削計画」に乗船しちょったがよ。

We would like to introduce our new member.
Dr. John Bedford, a JSPS External Researcher, has joined the Rock Mechanics Research Group.
It is not easy to travel due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, but he completed 2 weeks of quarantine in Narita after a negative PCR test result and safely arrived in Kochi.
We are looking forward to his future research works at the Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research!
John’s Ambition
"I'm really pleased to be here, Kochi has world-class facilities for performing friction experiments and I hope that my future research here will shed some light on processes that happen during real earthquakes in nature."
He was on the IODP Expedition 358 of "Nankai Trough Seismogenic Zone Experiment (NanTroSEIZE)" of the Deep-sea Scientific Drilling Vessel "CHIKYU" which was carried out in October, 2018.
