選挙の歴史, History of elections in Myanmar

2月に軍がクーデターを起こした理由として、2020年11月の総選挙で不正があったと主張し、一年以内にでも再選挙をやりそうな勢いでしたが、いつしか、2022年までには…2023年までには…と、再選挙を先送りしているような感があります。
一方、民衆側は、選挙に対してどういう感覚でいるのか、一市民が思いを吐露してくれました。以下、原文と和訳です。

I am so sad for the people from other countries throughout the world who believe that the Military is humanitarian like the people from developed countries. I want to say to the international people that Myanmar people never believe in the Military.

In 1990, the NLD won the election for the whole country and the Military arrested Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all elected representatives and destroyed all NLD offices. At that time, the military promised that they would facilitate a new election after the coup. However, they did not. Instead of that, Gen. Than Shwe took 20 years from 1990 to 2010. During that period, they prepared unfair 2008-constitution and infrastructures in any sectors under Military for example medical Army university, Army technology university, etc. They built every important foundation for the Military rather than people.

The Military assigned high level and other level soldiers into the Ministries as VIP staff. The Military organized the Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA). Before the 2010 election, the Military changed USDA into a party, Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and many VIP levels of Military were retired and changed representatives (candidates) for election. The 2010 election was not fair because Ministers and other heads of department forced all government staff to vote USDP. Then the USDP won the whole country.

Those unfair elected representatives did not work for people but took every opportunity like money, land, house, etc for them. This time, the military is preparing the same as the previous coup. They want the USDP to win every election. Myanmar people know this party does not work for people. Before the 2021 election, Gen. Min Aung Hlaing promised that he would accept any result of the election but did not.

After the coup, he promised that the election would be within one year. However, he changed his mind to do the next election in 2023. I am so astonished that the international community trusts the speech and promise of the Military and watches the implementation according to the Military's promise. While watching, I don't know how many people will be killed.

We would like to request and apologize to the international community not to pursue the next election. Please, show your recognizing our legitimated Government, NUG and stand with the people. (described by Mr. M)

私は、ミャンマー国軍が先進国の人々並みに人道主義であると信じておられる世界各国の方々に対して悲しく思っています。

1990年、NLD（スー・チー氏主催の政党）が総選挙で勝利したところ、軍はスー・チー氏とすべての当選者を逮捕し、すべてのNLD事務所を潰しました。同時に軍は、クーデター後の再選挙を促進すると約束しました。しかしながら、やっていません。その代わり、タン・シュエ将軍は、1990年から2010年までの20年間を確保しました。その間、彼らは、不公平な2008年版憲法と、軍の下で軍医療大学や軍技術大学などのあらゆる分野の施設を準備しました。彼らは、人々よりも軍のために、すべての重要な基盤を建てました。
