4th, July, 2022. At Shibuya, Spotify O-EAST.

1000+ audience there, and 25K+ people over YouTube witnessed a stunning concert.

This is a report from my perspective of what happened in Peanuts-kun's first concert tour 『Walk Through the Stars Tour』, which has his new album on its title.

Before opening, in Shibuya.

It was a little cloudy after having small rain. The smell of the town, Maruyama-cho, filled the air.

The staff was preparing to open the doors. Otomonuts (the name of Peanuts-kun's fans) were waiting for the moment to arrive.

The heat of the crowd seemed to push up the rising humidity even further. AudiencThe audiencee with yellow live towels and black-and-white live T-shirts gathered one aAufter another.

Otomonuts rush to the streaming on YouTube as well. The chat of it was accelerating.

Both the real and online worlds were filled with a mixture of anticipation and tension.

Their puppets on display at the event.
Always cute no matter how many times seeing them. Hello!
the sales was over, and they were preparing for the opening. Tension building up.

Entering.

Finally, the admission began. The reception proceeded carefully in order.

On the way to the entrance, the staff with curly hair handed out small yellow balloons.

According to Mochi, "Otaku don't know how to cheer other than waving a psyllium light." She knows everything. That's right.

(12:20~)

Thanks to this item, I could avoid just standing like a stick. I recall that in "POP YOURS" I could only mimic the person next to me poorly.

I would also like to mention that many of the Otomonuts at the site were dressed stylishly. They were fashionable, Otomonuts.

-------

Entering the hall.
Fortunately, I had a good(early) number (012!) and was able to get a position almost in the middle of the first row.

I held the fan I had made at work before arriving, ensured the charger was connected to my iPhone, and drank every drop of my drink before the show started.

Now I am ready.

My heart is beating harder and more rapidly.

The stage before the legend begins.
The handed-out balloon. Cute!
Peanuts kun's eye is peeking out from the back. Cute!
Growing enthusiasm in the front row.

Finally, the show began!

Ponpoko's shadow narration (not appearing on stage but only speaking) begins.

Her voice, a little higher than usual, implied that she was a little nervous, but also that she seemed to be enjoying the feeling as well. I wanted to tell her, "I'm having fun too!

The thoughtful announcement, which explicitly allows us to take pictures, shoot vids, and share them on social networking sites, makes us feel warm at this point.

THIS IS Pokopea. Pokopea IS FOREVER.

After the shadow narration, Pokopea appeared in their Japanese room on the huge screen on the stage.

Their Japanese room. However, they just moved in March!

Laughter overflowed, and just when I thought we'd loosened up for a moment.

The sound of "Roomrunner!" exploded!

Blinking lights. Heart-thumping speakers. Shaking the hall. And the echoing voice of Peanuts kun!

He never stopped and kept on singing "Fulltracker" and "DUNE!"

The blood pressure broke through 135 right after the start, and here began the 140 minutes of the dream.

"Peanuts kun". Unraveling him through the performance.

From here on, I would like to take a slightly distinctive approach and organize my report not in chronological order, but based on what I grasped throughout the concert.

I received three messages from Peanuts kun both inside and outside of the show. They are as follows:

  1. Peanuts kun is "complicated".

  2. The complexity makes one figure, "what is the Peanuts kun",  through the concert experience

  3. A gift from Peanuts kun to Otomonuts.

I wanna deep dive into them one by one.

Peanuts kun is "complicated".

First of all, Peanuts kun is complicated. He has various "hats".

One hat as an anime creator, another as a musician, and as a VTuber…

His diverse skills and the layers of his "multiverse" worlds that he often mentions create a complex and three-dimensional image of his character, woven together vertically and horizontally.

It is difficult to describe him in simple terms, and the question "What is Peanuts kun?" is a question that is always present in front of us.

I feel that the "Walk Through the Stars Tour" was a great performance that answered this question by carefully picking up and weaving together his past trajectory.

Peanuts kun is a prudent boy who checks his position a few times before putting his foot on a box.

The experience as if you were gazing at Peanuts kun from above, below, right, and left.

I would like to unravel the various aspects of Mr. Peanut together by walking through the structure of the concert performance.

Peanuts kun as an elder brother (virtually)

Of course, Peanuts kun is a completely different guy from Ponpoko's big bro, but I don't think there is any dispute that he is close to Anipoko(the big bro of Ponpoko) and usually acts as a substitute for her.

At the beginning of the concert, their Japanese-style room was shown, and we saw the conversation between the two which is already a part of everyday life for Otomonuts and SatoNoTammi, who watch Pokopea's vids/streams every day.

The essence of Peanuts kun's "brotherly feelings toward Ponpoko" oozed from the ordinary conversation in the opening.

Ponpoko swinging a camera that is not on,
and Peanuts kun staring at it with innocent eyes.

This "character" was also emphasized during the encore scene.

Ponpoko was filming a video on stage to make the next YouTube video, and Peanuts kun got pranked…
Peanuts kun corrected Ponpoko's misstatement…
Peanuts kun sang and danced "YutaiRidatsu" and "Hana-to-Nari" with Ponpoko…

The encore was not available on YouTube, so please watch this instead.

supermodel.

Peanuts kun as a shy (and cute) boy

While he can be accordingly shy, he also has an ambivalent side that shows off his innocent desires.

Peanuts kun's previous album, "Tele Club," featured some girls creators, and dropped many pop and cute songs that incorporated such an ambivalent side of him.

The songs: "School Boy", "Peppermint Love", and "KISS", which were performed with the guests at this concert, epitomize it.

The move that he showed when he managed to go through Omega sisters by using "Devil Bat Ghost", is the quintessential example.

That move is just like the one junior high school boys do when they are excited to talk with girls… Ok, let's not mention any more here.

This distance. Perfect.

Peanuts kun as an anime-creator

One of the things that personally made me very happy was the abundant use of his animation as essential factors of the concert.

In addition to the use of one of his anime that plays tribute to "Animal Crossing", the fact that he invited Jovilbo Matsumoto as a guest, and sang a full song with him brought a big catharsis to Otomonuts who love his animation.

"Don't worry, I haven't forgotten my anime". It sounded to me so.

His anime is the starting point of his history.
I don't have the writing skills to describe why we love the works so much, but the charm of the "poison" that Peanut-kun puts into his anime is an indispensable component of the Peanuts kun story.

It was a great time to see Jovilbo's wacky moves (I believe those who saw it could tell)…

Chancho peeks out from one side of the stage.
Chancho summoning something.

And, Peanuts kun as a HIP-HOP musician

What Peanuts kun values more than anything else today, and what he is expanding into, is his "hat" as a HIPHOP artist.

The passion of Peanuts kun is more than enough to be conveyed in his performance, which is uninterrupted for 140 minutes.

■ The artwork is dense.

  • The unofficial music video for "DUNE!", which has now become official technically, is performed again following "POP YOURS".

  • The overwhelming presence of Suzuka Ichimatsu in "Unreal Life".

  • The music video for the new "PetbottleRocket" was dropped without any announcement beforehand.

These artworks immediately transformed O-EAST into a different kind of space.

The music video for "PetbottleRocket," which was performed for the first time during the concert, conveys the thoughts and feelings of Peanuts kun.

Not only this song, but this whole album is filled with the daily life and stories of not only me but also Pokopea. It reflects my daily life of filming, publishing videos, and connecting with various worlds

with an unofficial music video on his back
Immediately, we sent to another dimension.
Peanuts kun stands proudly with his new music video.
Release it soon, please.

■ A new album with a piercing sound

This concert performance featured nerdwitchkomugichan as DJ, with a new album that has the distinguished power.

The performance was so strong that the audience felt as if they could physically touch each piece of music.

"Makeup", "KidsRoomMan", "KFC", "PEEPEE"...

The artwork, the sounds and music, and Peanuts kun's vocals become a trinity that dominates the space.

Don't miss his cute and catchy dance.
Clearly, the move is getting better than before.

A gift for Otomonuts.

So far, I have walked through some of Peanuts kun's various "hats" while looking at the concert performance structure.

There is one more "hat" that I must mention: Peanuts kun as a great entertainer.

There were many scenes in this concert that made me feel like a gift from Peanuts kun to Otomonuts over the past five years.

A performance that involved the audience several times during the show

Peanuts kun (or more precisely, sometimes as Chancho) asked the audience to follow his directions.

These instructions show that Peanuts kun has fully digested his experiences on stages he performed before.

He greedily takes the techniques of other top-level performaers and sublimates them into his own style.

  • in "SuperChat", the chat in YouTube exploded.

  • In "zakkyobuilding", shouting "Let's jump in 3, 2, 1 Let's go!"

  • in "Walk Through the Stars",  "Turn on your cell phone lights, and show it to me!"

With each exchange, the audience, the place, and Peanuts kun were getting mixed. The hall reflects back the light emitted by one star.

The Return of Leotard Buta and Yagi High-Leg

There are many highlights of this show, but if you had to pick just one, this would definitely be the one that comes to mind.

The return of Leotard Buta and Yagi High-Leg after more than two years.

Who would have guessed it? Well, there may be people who did. But did anyone really believe that it would really come true?

At this moment, O-EAST literally exploded by the heat of the audience.

Right after the heart-warming chat between them, they suddenly launcheed into "PsychoShocker!" The audience was suddenly shifted to the top speed.

The new style leaves both the high-leg and "yagi"(goat) elements in the past.
Let's be honest.
Every time I saw images of past leotard buta on Twitter, I was always about to lose control

Flinching at the visual difference themselves, they hit "Happy Junk Life" and "Today, a little bit complicated" in rapid succession.

At this moment, everyone in the hall was convinced that what they were witnessing was more than just a live concert.
They were witnessing a historical moment that would eventually become legendary.

And, the ending

The time for the end was approaching, but Peanuts kun kept running at top speed until the very end.

After creating a fantastic atomosphere with "Walk Through the Stars", he did not end the show quietly.

The encore was not just "a few more songs" for Peanuts kun.

With Kigurumi form Ponpoko, he performed "YutaiRidatsu" and "Hana-to-Nari".

As the audience stared at the blurred stage with tears in their eyes by the many memories running through their minds, Peanuts kun finished with his own anthems, "Gummi Cho Ume" and "Drippin' Life".

In addition to thanking him for the best ending, I also would like to mention the excellence of pokopea's streaming style.

The style of the encore, which gives the local participants a special feeling, is that there is no simultaneous streaming of the encore.

On the other hand, a digest of the encore, a video that will be released at a later date, will be more than enough for the local participants to feel the passion of the encore.

The outstanding sense of balance of involving everyone inclusively while carefully picking up the feelings of each individual is what makes them so warm and inviting.

What makes them unique?

Persistence, talents, and friends. And let's not forget this warm look in their eyes.

They may not be saints, but they certainly have a look that is there, a look that has a feel to it, and that is what draws us to them.

What was the concert after all?

Peanuts kun said that good music is "squeezed and squeezed and the last drop reveals the person's humanity. that's a good music."

(7:17~)

He also says;

My first one-man tour! It was all for this!

https://shibuya-o.com/east/schedule/walk-through-the-stars-tour/

What we witnessed on July 4 is exactly what his words would have been like on a concert scale.

Everything Peanuts kun has built up over the past five years, all the intricacies of what makes him who he is, was packed into 140 minutes of brain-burning information.

It was a moment when Peanuts kun "Flexed" his everything.

To the next 5 years

So, did Peanuts kun use up his all? Is this the end of the road?

The answer is definitely NO. In fact, the opposite is true.

He is being guided by the right people

(11:40~)

The past five years may have been more of a cradle phase for him.

Now that he is out of that cradle, he is looking forward to the next five years with old and new friends like nerdwitchkomugichan, De Niro Tamada, Koideshunpei, Yaca, and Yagi High-leg.

The yellow charming boy born on the streets of the Internet will surely continue to show us the process of its rise from the sidelines, overcoming the mainstream of cultures, and reaching the pinnacle.

You are the star, shining brightly above our heads!

Last..

I have tried to write this report from my personal view of the structure of the concert, which became slightly visible a few days after that day when I immersed myself in the flood of the information.

I would like to thank you for reading this long report, and if you have any comments or opinions, please feel free to share them with me on Twitter.

I would love to hear your thoughts and impressions somewhere.
