この日は午前中、以下の記事を作成。
英文メールを送る機会があるため、頭の整理にまとめてみた。
その後、午後1時に家を出発。目的地はウェンブリースタジアム。
サッカーの聖地とも言われる伝統的なスタジアムだ。
マンチェスターユナイテッド対マンチェスターシティの試合を見るために、語学学校の友人が5人ほどロンドンに来ることになっていた。
近い席を確保したので、スタジアムで合流。
たった2週間ぶりにも関わらず、2年ぶりに会ったかのような感動があった笑
ロンドンの地で、マンチェスターの友人たちと、マンチェスターの2チームと再開するのはなんだか不思議な感じだ。
しばし立ち話をした後、試合を見るためにスタジアムへと入る。スタジアムは赤と青で隔てられ、試合前からサポーターの熱気が凄い。
試合自体はプレシーズンだったこともあり、めちゃめちゃ強度の高い試合というわけではなかったが、最終的にはシティがPKで試合を制した。
正直ユナイテッドもかなりチャンスを作っていて、試合の出来としてはユナイテッドに軍配が上がっていたように思う。
試合後は大混雑の中、地下鉄に乗り、市内中心部に向かう。マンチェスターへと戻る列車を待ちながら、最近の出来事や試合についてしばし語り合う。
ちなみにどうでも良いことだが、その際、通行人に自分の飲み物が入ったペットボトルを盗まれた。
友人を見送ってからは、ロンドンに滞在する友人とパスタを食べに向かう。値段は比較的リーズナブルではあるが、結構美味しかった。
食事の後、友人と市内中心部を散歩し、軽くパブで一杯飲んで解散。
こうした繋がりができたことは本当に良かったと思う。

午前中はカフェに行って、以下の記事を完成させる。
その後は夜まで仕事だったのだが、この日はトラブルに出くわした。
ざっくり言うと、不正クレジットカードの利用と偽札の利用だ。目の前で連続して事件に遭遇するとは思わなかったので、少し恐ろしかった。
セキュリティの人曰く、人が多いエリアだからこそ、この手の事件も多いそうだ。
お客さんとコミュニケーションを取ることは良いことばかりではない。基本的にみなさん親切なのだが、中には悪質なことを考える人たちもいる。
先週の暴動もそうだが、日本とは異なる部分も多々あるので、用心しなければならない。
ちなみに、お札や紙幣を表す言葉は、イギリス英語とアメリカ英語で異なるそうだ。

この日も仕事。
新しいメンバーにも会ったのだが、非常にエネルギッシュで英語にパワーがある人だ。
当たり前のように英語を使いこなせる人が多いし、それがスタンダード。自分はまだまだだが、コツコツと向上させていきたい。
仕事を終えてからは、研修のeラーニングコースを受講。英語でのコースなので、日本語でやるよりかなり時間がかかる。。
