日本中からメロンが消える原因不明の事件が起こった。大規模な窃盗団のしわざかと全国のメロン農家が警戒を強める中、知る人ぞ知る日本一のメロンの産地鉾田市で、突如空がメロンの網目のようにひび割れ、その中から怪獣が出現した。実はメロン消失は地球のメロン強奪を企む異次元人の仕業で、怪獣は異次元の生物とフードロスにより廃棄されたメロンの怨念を合体させて先兵として作り出された生物兵器だった。自衛隊が出動するが、怪獣の放つ甘い香りに骨抜きにされてしまい、まるで歯が立たない。大ピンチの中、地元のメロン農家出身のお笑い芸人が、怪獣をクリームソーダでおびき寄せ、昭和観光のイルミネーションで注意を引き、その隙にメロンのネットをかぶせ捕獲する作戦を提案する。いやムチャな作戦だな！とツッコミが入るも作戦は実行され、大苦戦の末怪獣の捕獲に成功。メロリンガと名づけられた怪獣は芸人によって手懐けられ、鉾田市の新戦力となった。
