Nouns & EDCON 2024 ❤️ The week of EDCON in Tokyo this summer was the most Nounish ever ⌐◨-◨

EDCON 2024 was held from July 24th to July 30th in Shibuya, Tokyo, as the biggest annual event of the Ethereum Foundation! EDCON, the largest annual Ethereum event, is held once a year. This year marked its first occurrence in Japan, with plans to continue in Tokyo next year as well. Thanks to the sponsorship of Shibuya Ward, participation was entirely free! The purposes of holding EDCON are as follows

Ethereum is not just a decentralized financial system but also seeks to decentralize social structures themselves through measures like disparity correction and interoperability, exploring various solutions to social issues.
It advocates for open-sourcing all public goods and collaborating as needed.

EDCON itself is not only a festival of specialized blockchain technology but also an event designed to familiarize the general public with Web3, with thoughtful touches throughout.　 This report will focus not on the overall picture of EDCON but on the relationship between NounsDAO and EDCON, and more specifically on the parts I was involved with. For the significance of EDCON mentioned above, please refer to someone else's blog.

How did NounsDAO come to participate in EDCON?

The activities of Nouns DAO are decentralized and based on the revenue from NFT auctions held on the Nouns .wtf site (treasury). The participation in this EDCON was also carried out through a proposal, with the budget being distributed to the implementation team and executed.  If you want to know about specific proposal, check here

The venue consisted of two locations (United Nations University and Yoyogi National Gymnasium). The first half of the event took place at the United Nations University, and the second half at Yoyogi National Gymnasium.

The booth is a fusion of Japanese style and Nouns' pop feel! It was so stylish that the excitement was at its max. The booth setup was done on the 23rd, the day before the opening. Four to five craftsmen and designers skillfully created a Japanese-style space. I was having a background in architecture, so it was thrilled !

ust being there makes for a joyful space ❤️The materials used were 1✖️8 standard-sized softwood plywood, which is readily available, but the lighting created a very Japanese atmosphere and I felt it was wonderful! Not just Japanese-style, the floor was Nouns-like and POP! The red and white colors of the Japanese flag matched the wooden Japanese ambiance perfectly, showcasing the excellent taste of studio the blueboy. Kurage-san's Noggles Changer, Naokura-san, Javis from precipou plastics, and Hiro also had the opportunity to display and sell their merchandise.

Actually, everyone at CaresClub (Nouns Cares team) was gentlemanly and truly wonderful! The homey team atmosphere created by the gentle demeanor of CaresClub leaders Frankie and Will Papper, along with members who deeply love Japanese culture, each played a significant role. They provided wonderful arrangements and also prepared a merchandise space for the Japan team! I was simply moved by how much people around the world understand and love Japanese culture!

On 29th, On the 29th, the main event, a Nouns workshop, was held. In addition to speeches by active members of Nouns DAO, such as Chris Carrella  ,Frankie Colamarino, Will Wheer, David T Phung and Patyiupatyiu.⌐◨-◨ 姚鹏  and nine groups from Japan also participated.


I invited speakers from nine groups of activists in Japan, resulting in a variety of excellent presentations! The Cares Club highly appreciated it as well! The video was recorded by EDCON and will be uploaded later. I will notify you when more information is available. Thank you very much to everyone who participated! I was checking the flow of my own presentation and the Japan team's, so I couldn't take many photos!

July 29th, premiere screening of Shark, Picle, Cone

"This was also a wonderful meeting! This documentary begins with a silhouette appearance by @punk4156, the founder of NounsDAO! (@punk4156 has never been publicly visible before, and initially even altered his voice.) The beginning of the first half recounts the story of the founding of Nouns DAO, starting with a call to action on X (Twitter) by @punk4156 that brought together a group of brilliant colleagues, rapidly constructing an episode filled with the great potential and risks inherent in NounsDAO, as well as the definition of 'Nounish' (traits typical of Nouns), with the founder himself discussing the concept.

The main part meticulously illustrates the process from drafting to actual execution of one of the most Nouns-like proposals, participating in the Rose Parade.

Through this episode, you get a glimpse of what NounsDAO does and who is involved in it. In particular, the emotional landscape of NounsDAO's Diva, @Aubtoshi, is carefully described and forms the axis of the story. NounsDAO is a kind of DAO where the experience of participating as a proposer and the content that interests potential participants are definitely worth watching! There might also be a screening in Tokyo soon.

The after party was the coolest and most fun party with club DJs! Being from the countryside, I had no connection to clubs in Tokyo, but I enjoyed the world of sound from Nouns' Shibuya Hack Video and the music that kept coming!
