Diary of 8 June, 2024

In September, I will start a master's programme in the UK.
Therefore, I will start journaling.

I will specialise in Translation Studies, and I would like to write down my current thoughts in notes.
In particular, I would like to research what it means to have the same meaning between 2 languages, such as Japanese and English.

For instance, there is a difference between "apple" and "りんご" (apple in Japanese).
Apple can also refer to that well-known company.

However, the reality is that the words are generally recognised as having the same meaning and communication is based on this recognition.
I would like to know more about how this is established and what it means to be the same.
