続くか分からないけど、きまぐれ英語学習。当面は、ニュースを読んで一つ表現をnoteするの巻。
CNNではなくてもいいのですが、BBCとCNNくらいしかサイトを見ないので。もう何十年か前(!)、CNNを聞き取れないと言ったら、まずはローカルニュースを聞いておけといわれたとき、ちゃんと聞いていれば今頃子の状態ではなかったかも（笑）
さて、今日は自分にも関係あるテーマ！本当に、農家さんで1時間も作業すると頭痛がしてきて倒れそうになりますし、高齢の先輩方はファン付のジャケットを着て仕事をしています。

・collapsed = to suddenly fall down or become unconscious because you are ill or weak (by LONGMAN英英辞典）倒れるとか、意識を失う
このあと、In 2023, a postal worker of almost 40 years, died while delivering mail during an extreme heat wave in Texas. He is not the first to die. At least five other postal workers have died since 2015.という表現も出てきているので、亡くなってしまった場合は別の表現になるようです。
今日はこの表現を選びます
The reasoning is, “job creators need a baseline of regulatory consistency across the state that allows them to focus their resources on growing their businesses and increasing their economic impact to the betterment of their employees, their communities, and the state, rather than dealing with unnecessary regulatory compliance,” the bill states.
“The core of the problem is that the United States does not have a national heat safety standard for workers, indoor or outdoor,” said Brian Renfroe, the president of the National Letter Carriers Association.
この二つの文章で「a baseline of regulatory consistency across the state」と「a national heat safety standard」という表現がバリエーションとして面白いと思ったのです。
一番目の文章は、「雇用創出者は、州全体にわたる規制の一貫性のベースラインを必要としている。そのベースラインとは、事業の成長させ、従業員や地域社会や州をより良くするためのeconomic impactを増加させるために資源を集中できるようなものである。不要な規制遵守に対処するよりも。」みたいな意味かな….。
二番目の文章は、「問題のコアは、indoorにせよoutdoorにせよ、アメリカ全体での暑さ対策のスタンダード（標準/基準）がないことである」という意味かな….。
本当に暑いですね。
