Axie infinity experience 3

Greetings

Good day everyone.
My name is Shuichi Kawamura.
I look forward to working with you today.

Introduction

This is a continuation of the Axie infinity experience.

Please read Axie infinity experience 1,2 for the story leading up to this point.

Also, as to whether you can earn money by playing the game, please see this article.

Scholar who is quitting

Axie infinity was no longer making any money at all.
As if in response to this situation, the scalers who could no longer make money quit one after another.

Some of them quit after informing us that they were quitting, while others quit after losing contact with us.

When we tried to recruit new scholars, we did not even receive any applications.
On the contrary, there were a large number of posts on the Discord board looking for a new scholar, but the number of posts looking for a manager was drastically decreasing.

It had completely become a seller's market.
I was amazed at the drastic change in such a short period of time.
And I could not cope with the drastic change at all.

My scalars became two scalars who could make some money, and three scalars who could not make much money but somehow continued to do so.

The management of the scholarship is much easier now that there are 5 scholarship holders instead of 26.

Finally, the scaler gave up on me.

With nothing left to do, I decided to give up my character items.

I put the character items that I had lent to the resigning scalers up for sale on the marketplace.

Since the market was in freefall, I decided to sell it at about half the price of the purchase price, since it would not sell for the same amount.

However, after a week or two, not a single item was sold.
In the meantime, the SLP continued to fall.

The character items that I paid a lot of money for became completely bad debts.

Finally, the two scalers who had been earning reasonably well lost touch with each other, and two scalers who had continued to work even though they were not earning well quit.

Finally, the scalers gave up on us.

Only one scaler remained, who was not making any money.

The earnings for May 2022 were...

I am a person who does not easily admit to things that are inconvenient for me, but I had to admit that it had become difficult for me to recover my original capital, let alone earn money from Axie infinity.

I decided to withdraw from Axie infinity.

I say withdrawal, but since I could not find a buyer for the character items, in short, I just decided to leave it alone.
I have no interest in the game, so I will not be playing it myself.

The one remaining scalper is not making any money due to the SLP crash, but for some reason he continues to do so. I wonder if he likes Axie infinity so much.

My share of the May 2022 SLP earned by that scalper was about $300.

Axie infinity income and expenditure results

As of the end of May 2022, Axie infinity's income and expenditure were
Investment: approximately 1,858,000 yen
Profit: approximately 1,286,000 yen
Balance: minus 572,000 yen

This is the result for 10 months.

In three months, I will have an unearned income of 1,000,000 yen...
I feel ashamed of myself for having dreamed of such a dream.

I got hurt by trying to do something other than Axie infinity

TOWN STAR

Back and forth, I have dabbled in PLAY TO EARN other than Axie infinity and have been hurt as a result.

In the winter of 2021, I was impatient with the fact that I was not making enough money on Axie infinity, so I was gathering information on what other games there were to make money besides Axie infinity.

Then I learned that a blockchain game company called GALA was running a game called TOWN STAR, which had become quite popular.

I had lost my cool and, not having learned from my mistake with Axie infinity, I purchased an item without really researching TOWN STAR.

GALA operates several games, but the prices of items are very expensive.
The price of items is usually 100,000 yen or 200,000 yen, and many items exceed 1,000,000 yen.
Even so, they are still selling well, so I can only say that the world is a big place.

I purchased the cheapest items among the TOWN STAR characters I could find, but they still cost about 286,000 yen.

TOWN STAR is a town building game.
It is not a competitive game, so it is laid back, but it was still not interesting to me as I am not interested in games.

Moreover, the tokens earned from this game are also on the decline, and there is no hope of recovering the original capital at all at this point.

I have made the same mistake again with Axie infinity.

TOWN STAR is still in beta.
There is a possibility of introducing scholarship in the future.
The game itself seems to be popular, so I hope the day will come when I can meet a good scholar and earn money.

SPIDER TANK

At the same time I started in TOWN STAR, I bought a character in a game called SPIDER TANK run by GALA.

The price was about 136,000 yen.

I was in a hurry to buy the item without doing a thorough research, so I haven't earned as much as I would have liked.

SPIDER TANK, like TOWN STAR, is still in beta.
I heard that there is a possibility of introducing a scalar ship in the future.
I hope the day will come when I meet a good scholar and earn money.

CRYPTO MINES

I was caught by the mention of a game that only requires one click per day, and I thought that even I, who am not interested in games, could play this one in November of 2021.

To say the least, it was a terrible game.

It was a BNB chain game, but the game was just a game where the operator was just trying to skim BNB from the participants.

The game company is a for-profit business, so it is natural that it aims to make money.
However, they should be able to make a profit in return for providing users with value that makes them pay money.

This game was so bad that it had no such value.
Well, I was a fool to fall for such a thing.

This game taught me once again that there are people out there who make money by taking advantage of idiots like me.

After about two weeks, I realized the maliciousness of this game and cut my losses.
A loss of about 130,000 yen.
It was a wise decision because if I had been late in cutting my losses, the damage would have been much greater.

STEPN

The most talked about PLAY TO EARN in the spring of 2022 was STEPN.
(STEPN is precisely WALK TO EARN.)

I had learned my lesson with Axie infinity, but the extraordinary amount of "profitable" information on the Internet almost made me get involved.

In May, when the tokens became much cheaper, I was on the verge of taking a chance and getting into it, but the market was in a tailspin and I had to stop after all.

Looking at the current price collapse of tokens today, it was a good thing I didn't.

PLAY TO EARN Frenzy

Request to the Management Company

This is my experience with Axie infinity.

I apologize to those who were expecting to learn how to start or play the game, as it is not as useful as it could have been.

I had a terrible time financially with PLAY TO EARN.
However, I do not deny PLAY TO EARN itself.
PLAY TO EARN is a new field that has just been created, and I am rather looking forward to seeing how it will develop in the future.

For the healthy development of PLAY TO EARN, I hope that operators will focus on creating great games that are worth players' money, instead of focusing on how to extract money from players.

This will result in the operators making money, and the world of PLAY TO EARN will grow.

To everyone who wants to earn money by playing games

As I wrote in my previous post, only a few people can make money playing games.

Those few people are
(1) Those who have been working on the game before it became a boom.
(2) Those who were able to take advantage of the timing of the game's boom.
(3) Those who are among the world's top players of the game.

For those who do not fit any of these three patterns, there is a high possibility that they will not be able to recover their original investment, or even if they could, it would take many years to recover it.

You should not jump into the game so easily.

In particular, be wary of people like me who are not interested in games, but who might give it a try because they hear it can make money.

At present, I do not recommend PLAY TO EARN unless you really like games.
And for those who play, the main purpose is not to earn money, but to enjoy the game, and you should be lucky if you can earn money along the way.

Certainly, there is a possibility that you can take advantage of the timing of the boom and make money even if you do not like the game.

However, the boom will not last forever.
And as tokens that can be earned from games are traded on the market, there is always the risk of a price drop.

Those who play for the main purpose of earning money should be fully aware of this risk before entering the game.

Please don't play with the mindset of "I'm going to make money from this and FIRE with unearned income," as I did.

I wonder if there will ever be a game where an average player can make enough money to live off the game...
For those who really want to enjoy the game, now might be a good time to take a chance.
Character items are cheaper than they were at one time, and the system of making money from playing games is still in place, regardless of the amount.

The ideal would be for a game to emerge in which an ordinary player could earn enough money to live off the game alone, and in a stable manner.

Normally, that would be difficult to achieve.
Just as it is impossible for a grassroots baseball player to make a living playing grassroots baseball.

However, PLAY TO EARN is a new world that has just begun, and perhaps some extraordinary genius will create such a game.

I will give PLAY TO EARN another try when such a game appears.
Do you think such a game will appear one day?

Thank you for reading to the end.

P.S

I used msy's illustrations today as well.
Thank you msy for drawing a wonderful illustration.
Please continue to create fun illustrations.
