三菱銀行の同期会：2023年2月4日（土）

東京一ッ橋の如水会館において，三菱銀行の昭和60年入行組の同期会が行われるということで，京都から東京へ新幹線を使って移動し，私も参加した。

　会場では首に掛けるようにと紐の付いた名札を手渡されたのであるが，これが，唯一，記憶を辿るのに大事な役割を果たしてくれた。自分もそうであるが，風貌では全く分からないほどに変わってしまった人も多く，名札と名刺を併せてのご挨拶。立食パーティー形式で，最初は入行時の新人研修グループのチームに分けてもらえたので，38年前の新入行員時代の記憶が蘇る思いだった。尤も，私は銀行に5年間ほど勤務したのちにシンクタンクに転職したのであるが，それにもかかわらず，本日のように同期として温かく受け容れてくれたのは三菱グループの度量の寛大さによるものであろうとも感じた。

　本日の同期会は120人の出席者数（事前申込者が全員出席）と大変な盛会ぶりであった。皆さん，還暦を過ぎてもとても元気にご活躍されていて，どのように説明したら良いのか正直なところ分からないが，特殊なパワーをいただいた。既に次回の同期会が2年後に入行40周年記念の同期会として予定されているという。

　永久名誉幹事の杉浦さん，同期会会長の小林さん，大変お疲れさまでございます。

Mitsubishi Bank Class Reunion：February 4th(Saturday)

A class reunion for the group of new employees who joined Mitsubishi Bank in 1985 was held at the Josui Kaikan in Tokyo. I traveled from Kyoto to Tokyo by Shinkansen and also participated in the event.

At the venue, we were handed name tags with strings to wear around our necks, and this played an important role in helping us remember each other. Many people had changed so much in appearance that we wouldn't have recognized each other without the name tags and business cards. We greeted each other with both, and it felt like reliving memories of our new employee training group from 38 years ago. Although I only worked at the bank for about five years before switching to a think tank, I felt that the warm reception as classmates like today was due to the generosity of the Mitsubishi Group.

Today's class reunion was a great success with 120 attendees (all of the pre-registrants showed up). Everyone was still very active and energetic even after turning 60, and I honestly don't know how to explain it, but I received a special kind of energy from them. The next class reunion is already scheduled for two years from now as a 40th anniversary celebration for our entry into the bank.
