世界のトップクライマー平出和也氏と中島健郎氏の安否を案じる:2024年7月29日（月）

酸素ボンベを使わずに，世界第2の高峰（8,611メートル）のパキスタンK2を未踏ルートの西壁からチャレンジをした平出和也氏（45歳）と中島健郎氏（39歳）が，7月27日に登攀中の7,000メートル付近で滑落したという報道が，午前11時半頃（日本時間）に流れた。平出和也氏はピオレドール賞を日本で最多の3度受賞しており，登山家を目指す人々にとってまさに憧れとするヒーローであるに違いない。

　あまりにもショックだ。K2の未踏ルートを登るためのトレーニングとして，2019年にパキスタン北部のカラコルムに位置するラカポシ（7,788メートル）に両氏が挑む模様を，2020年6月にTBS系テレビ番組『情熱大陸』で放映されたのを観て，それをビデオに収録し，これまで4年間，自分が辛い心境のときに必ずそのビデオを再生して観ることで励みを貰っていた。

　現時点で安否は不明であるが，ヘリコプターでの救助が難しく，地上から救助に向かっているという。兎にも角にも無事に帰って欲しい。

Concern for the safety of the world's top climbers, Kazuya Hiraide and Kenro Nakajima: July 29th(Monday), 2024

Reports came in around 11:30 AM (Japan time) on July 27 that Kazuya Hiraide (45 years old) and Kenro Nakajima (39 years old), who were challenging the second highest peak in the world, Pakistan's K2 (8,611 meters), from an uncharted route on the west face without using oxygen tanks, fell around the 7,000-meter mark during their ascent. Kazuya Hiraide has received the Piolet d'Or award three times, the most for any Japanese climber, and is undoubtedly a hero admired by aspiring mountaineers.

The news is simply shocking. As training for climbing the uncharted route on K2, the two had attempted Rakaposhi (7,788 meters) in the Karakoram range in northern Pakistan in 2019. This endeavor was broadcast on the TBS TV program "Jounetsu Tairiku" in June 2020, and I recorded the show. For the past four years, I have always watched this video when I was feeling down and drew encouragement from it.

Their current status is unknown, but helicopter rescue is difficult, and a rescue team is heading to the site from the ground. I sincerely hope they return safely.
