Saiin(Sai) Station:June 12th(Monday)

Saiin(Sai)Station is a railway station located in Kyoto City, serving the Keifuku Electric Railroad Arashiyama Main Line (commonly known as the Randen) and the Hankyu Kyoto Main Line. Although the station name is written as "西院駅" , it is pronounced as "Sai-eki" on the Randen and "Saiin-eki" on the Hankyu line. This area originally housed Junna-in (also known as Saiin), and during the Heian period to the Kamakura period, it was pronounced as "Saiin." However, during the Sengoku period to the Edo period, it also came to be pronounced as "Sai." In modern times, "Saiin" was recommended by local authorities, but honestly, it is not clear which pronunciation is official at present. Additionally, within Kyoto City, there are two different pronunciations for 七条: "Nanajo" and "Shichijo," and even in public transportation, the pronunciation has not been standardized.
