What starts with a story is one of the difficult points in writing novels. 

Opening with the scene of someone saying anything is good.
It is good that the main character says by himself (or herself). 
Muttering inside someone's mind is good.

Nothing is right about this.

But, it is more important to consider how you initiate your narrative carefully than any other tasks for writing a work. 

Writing Note is exactly the same. 
I just now spent 15 minutes coming up with phrases I think are good.
Besides, they may be poor, cheap, and classical being seen by mature writers.

Words are difficult.
