Have you ever heard of "soy meat"? It is meat made from soybeans. The "meat" is now becoming popular in Europe and the U.S. , and you can buy it in Japan, too.
　More people are eating soy meat these days for several reasons. First, soybeans are good for your health. For example, soybeans have a lot of protein and vitamin E. Some people are more interested in their health and they want to eat food that is good for their bodies.
　Second, more people are eating animal meat around the world. Maybe there will not be enough animal meat for everyone someday. Some people are worried that they won‘t be able to eat animal meat in the future, and they are trying to eat more soy meat and less animal meat.
　Some people don‘t eat animal meat for other reasons. Farmers do not need a lot of resources to grow soybeans. However, we need a lot of grain and water to raise animals for meat. This may increase the danger of other serious problems like global warming.
　A few people don't eat animal meat because they feel sorry for animals. They never eat animal meat, but they usually have good health. They are very careful about their food.
For example, these people try to get enough protein by eating many kinds of food each day.
　In Japan, some companies realized these facts and they are trying to develop better soy meat.
However, there are still many problems in developing their products. Soybeans come from plants and it is not easy for them to make soy meat taste like animal meat. As a result of their hard work, the taste is getting better every year.
　We Japanese have used soybeans for centuries, and they are called “meat from the fields.”　We often eat tofu, and it is made from soybeans, just like soy meat. If you find a soy meat hamburger in a restaurant, please try it and think about the future of the world.

雑感

本問は特に奇問、難問ではなく、しっかりと対策をすればとれる問題でした。

知っていれば解けて、知らなければ解けない問題とことなり、得点しやすいので、ここで6問は取っておきたいところです。

本試験では、ふつうはこの問題は順番的に最後に解くことになると思います。時間さえあればできるので、先にやっつけてしまってもいいかもしれません。
