シソ木、シソ科、フロミス属


地中海沿岸部を原産とする常緑低木で
草丈は１００〜１５０ｃｍほどになり
原産地では鑑賞目的で広く流通する。


開花時期は初夏から晩秋までととても長く
花が咲いている時は、辺りにはレモン系の
香りが漂って、とても心地がよい。


花形は蜂に特化した蜜源植物となっており
花が終わり落ちると、その跡として星型の
記号が並ぶのも楽しい。


洋名には、セージと名がついているが実際
には別物であり、スパイスには使われない。
ドライフラワーやポプリ、ハーブとしては
活躍する。


毛足の長いシルバーリーフは、分厚くて
手触りも良いもので、モフモフ好きには
たまらない感触である。



JERUSALEM SAGE

Belonging to the Lamiaceae family
within the Sage genus,
this evergreen shrub is native to the
coastal regions of the Mediterranean.
It typically grows to a height of about
100-150 cm and is widely cultivated for ornamental purposes in its place of
origin.


With a flowering period extending
from early summer to late autumn,
the plant emanates a delightful lemon fragrance when in bloom,creating a
pleasant atmosphere in its surroundings.


The flower structure is tailored for
bees as specialized nectar sources,
and after the flowers fade and fall,
star-shaped symbols line the area,
adding an enjoyable visual element.


Despite the name "sage" in its English
name, it is a distinct plantand not used
as a spice. However, it plays a role in
dried flowers, potpourri,
and herb-related applications.


The long, silvery hairs on its leaves
are thick and have a pleasing texture,
making them irresistible to those who appreciate a fluffy touch.
