梅擬 （ウメモドキ）


モチノキ科、モチノキ属、ウメモドキ種の
樹高が２〜３ｍの落葉低木となる。


梅擬（ウメモドキ）の名は、この葉も花も梅
に似ている事から、この名がついている。


日本を原産とする樹木であり、ジャパニーズ
ウィンターベリーの洋名がついているのだが
残念ながら絶滅危惧種として、日本各地にて
自然界のものが姿を消していっている。


こちらのものは奈良の吉城園にて撮影した。
庭園内で人の手により大切に管理されている
この樹木は、多くの実をつけており、とても
美しい姿である。


一見するの南天と見間違えそうだが、こちら
のウメモドキは、落葉樹なので赤実のみ残る
姿となるので見分けがつく。

Umemodoki


Belonging to the Rosaceae family, the Mochinoki genus, Umemodoki species is
a deciduous shrub with a height of 2 to 3 meters.


The name "Umumodoki" comes from the
fact that both its leaves and flowers
resemble those of the Ume tree.


This tree is native to Japan and is unfortunately listed as an endangered
species, disappearing from the natural environment across Japan, despite being known by the Western name Japanese Winterberry.


The photo was taken in Yoshiki-en, Nara.
This tree, carefully managed by human
hands within the garden, bears many
fruits and presents a beautiful appearance.


Although it may be mistaken for Nandina at first glance, Umemodoki distinguishes itself
as a deciduous tree, with only red fruits remaining after the leaves fall.
