団扇ノ木

団扇ノ木 （ウチワノキ）


シソ目、モクセイ科、ウチワノキ属


朝鮮半島北部、韓国中北部で発見された
落葉低木で、日本へは昭和初期に渡来


花の後の蒴果が、扁平な円形となってその
周りが翼状になり、その姿がウチワに似る
姿からウチワノキの名称で呼ばれている。

その実姿はまた、追って載せようと思う。

Uchiwa-no-ki (Fan Tree)

Belonging to the order Lamiales, family

Verbenaceae, and genus Clerodendrum, it was discovered in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula and the central-northern regions of Korea. This deciduous shrub arrived in Japan in the early Showa period.

The fruit capsule after flowering becomes flattened and circular, with its edges becoming wing-like, resembling an "uchiwa" (Japanese fan), hence the name Uchiwa-no-ki (Fan Tree).
